Let's be realistic here.

Bush would probably issue a "deadline" for Iran to release the prisoners, from anything to a day to a couple of weeks.

There would be a lot of tension in the meantime, and the diplomatic world would go upside-down. Iran would probably reject all negotiations at first as the Western world would rally against it with U.N. support and sanctions.

As the deadline approached, I think Iran would come up with a deal involving a prisoner trade of some sort. The U.S. would probably refuse.

Then, when the deadline passed, the U.S. would probably ask Congress to declare war in Iran if the prisoners were still there. Iran's nuclear facilities would be air striked immediately, and ground troops would move across the border and begin pushing towards Tehran, with thousands of American casualties.

I think it would have been no different.Almond joy would have gave them right back. BUSH would not be as weak as Carter was and Almond joy knows it in Iran, he just want`s to make some noise.We would do no good to bomb Tehran WE WOULD JUST HAVE TO REBUILD IT.

They would not have been captured. There'd have been one heck of a fight leaving every Iranian dead or wounded.

That would have been an excellent and the right reason for Bush to use and have a rerun of "awe and shock" against Iran this time. I would even volunteer in the military (if they would have me).
