Since I'm retired military, I will try to resist any urge to add my 2 cent of wisdom in fear of how powerful that would reflect on my thoughts. Thumbs down folk please fell free to do your work that you do. Labels are only good for soup and "we don't need no stinking badges!" :P |

besides joy with the families...it was mentioned about the unemployment, and sadly that's a true statistic. However, we still can have an active military without being in Iraq |

If all of them came home at the same time, there would be a shortage of housing both military and civilian. With many bases redoing housing there isn't enough. The bases would not be prepared with enough staff for child care, exchanges, commissaries, gyms, etc... The traffic congestion would go up in a lot of areas that aren't use to it. There would not be enough medical staff, chaplains, counselors, etc... as well to deal with PTSD. |

There would be a power vacuum that would be filled by someone. The violence would certainly escalate as different factions started infighting to come out on top. The nations surrounding Iraq would also be jockeying for influence. The worst case scenario is that Islamic extremists would take over, probably equipped and supported by Iran, Syria, and run by Al Queda..
In Afghanistan, the Taliban would just stroll right back into control, and they would start torturing and killing their own people again. |

We would start to see the true meaning of world peace.
Aww me? a thumbs down? why? just because I do not believe in the mumbo jumbo that there would be lack of housing available for the troops, my hubby can live with me, so that takes care of one, and I know thousands of other wives with houses that will take their hubbys back as well, as far as where that leave the Iraqis, why the hell should I care? my only care is getting my family back together, billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent to worry about the Iraqis, NOT MY JOB! |

Total collapse of Democracy in the Mideast, slaughter of millions of innocents like in Vietnam when the left bullied us into pulling out of a war we were winning (that is when liberal politicians weren't unrealistically restricting our military). |

Well, there would be a dramatic power vacuum in Iraq. Most likely civil war would break out, war lords or something of the sort would come to power. And we would be in the same place we were before the war. Iraq would become an unchecked haven for stateless terror groups and we would have to go back.
Most don't agree with the Iraq war, but I believe its easy to say the fight against terrorism is one that must continue. |

In about 9 months all of the maternity wards in the USA would be packed.
As for immediate effects, there would be an increase in domestic violence and wives getting murdered due to the stress. |
