Nothing...most world leaders now are smart enough to resolve things reasonably.. I know i'm thinking rationally...but on such a tender topic you have to. There will always be wars, when minority groups want more..but the super powers of the world have to be intelligent enough to realize the repracusions of doing so.. |

Religion is a pretty vague anser. I say it could be caused by fanatics who believe that killing freedom-loving people will reward them in the after-life. To me, that's not religion.
I can see Iran using a nuke on Israel, then Iran being wiped off the map. It would take intervention by the Chinese or Russians to truly cause a world-war. |

its probably going to be like china taking land from america, because we're in so much debt, and the citizens wont stand for it, starting another revolution, and then, our allies join in the fight and so on... |

I think oil sounds reasonable. If for some odd reason Saudi Arabia decides to just cut the supply they give to the United States, we may have something on our hands.
I also think Russia plays a key part if any sort of war is to escalate. If tensions between the United States and Russia are to flare for some reason (ie. foreign policy or a similar event to what happened months earlier in the country of Georgia), nuclear warfare could come into play and we would certainly have a grave situation on our hands between the so called axis and allied powers.
Whatever happens, China will definitely have a huge part in "WW3." With their growing industrial prowess and steadily rising population, China has both the technology and manpower to have a profound influence on warfare over the next hundred years or so.
Good question with thought-provoking responses. We can only hope our world leaders have the sense to prevent anything on the scale of a WW3. As I said above, with nuclear weapons and other advanced weaponry, any type of world war would be more devastating than anything this world has ever seen. And we though the bomb on Hiroshima in WW2 was something catastrophic? Today's nuclear weapons are exponentially stronger. |

WW3 is highly unlikely because of NATO
But there's always India and Pakastan |

I think once AlQaida gets a nuke, they will bomb israel, and claim that China, Iran, or North Korea did it.
This would cause quite a scene! |

Food
Seriously. Food.
The human race is writing checks it cannot cash with the population, and energy, religion, etc... may be the opiate used to stir the populace into a war, the root cause will be food.
Want bio-diesel? Bummer, that crop land can produce corn for fuel, or for food. Pick one.
How many dictators are withhilding food as a weapon of mass destruction? Take a walk around Africa, let me know.
India, and Pakistan have only so much fertile land. Same with China.
Money will only go so far. Sure, the US and European nations can afford to control the market for food, but sooner or later, someone in these starving countries will look at all of us fat-a$$es and decide that taking our food by force is the only solution. |
