What documents will I need to move out of state if I'm married to a soldier?

At the end of the month, I'm more than likely moving out of state without my husband. I'm 7 months pregnant with his baby, and my son and I will need access to the military bases and stuff. Is there anything I will definitely need to bring with me, like something from deers for me or our marriage documents? I'll have my military ID, will I be able to take care of everything that my son will need after he's born, or will my husband have to do a few things here?

As was said, if you're going to try to take care of anything with the military you're going to need a Power of Attorney (POA) from your husband. And a lot of times the military powers that be want something specific. IE a general POA may not let you accept housing...you might need a specific clause allowing you to do that.

For the documents, it's always easier to have them on hand with you when you move. You should have official copies of your birth certificate and your kid's birth certificates. And an official copy of your marriage license. You never know when you're going to need them. Like registering your kids for sports on base, or daycare, or school. And the military has been known to spring surprise wedding checks to make sure they're not being cheated out of BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing). It's so much easier to go to your safe and pull the documents you need than it is to order them and wait. That safe is one of the things we always hand carry when we move.

The others know about military stuff, but I get the impression that this is a more serious move (based on other posts I have seen). I hope I am not right, but if I am, I would consult with an attorney who knows about military stuff. With your child's special needs, you are going to need insurance for him for quite sometime- so you want to make sure that the hubby will provide that. I would seriously consult with an attorney, if what I think is going on is happening.

depends on why you are moving. you will need a POA for any and all military related issues( to include special paperwork that allows you yto enter the child into DEERS without your DH being present) and you will also need to change your Tricare region.

certain base facilities may not be available to you if he is not actually stationed there.. such as base housing and access to child care. additionally, you may not get priority access to Tricare facilities either.
