What does everybody have against the Marines!?!?!?!?

There is a natural conflict with the navy, from what i can tell, it is because the Corps is part of the navy, but they do have different standards, and the corps men, many dont like to be assigned to the Marines, especially if they are not ready to pt with them, ( if they dont , they get no respect) and then there are the whole thing with the * sea* duty, the marines go on them, but from way back in the history,

Marines were on the boats, to protect the rum, to stop desertions, and to protect the captain from a mutiny, so the navy started to hate them way back then, and it still goes on today,

Its like asking why do the Gators hate the Seminoles. It is a long lived rivalry and probably wont change. LOL

then there might be the jealousy, they know the marine corps training exceeds the others, the boot is harder and longer, and some hate to admit it, LOL , good luck, lol

I don't believe they dislike the Marines, it's rather more of a pride & preference for their own branch of service .

All branches are honorable and there is no one 'best', although there may be a 'best' for an individual.

My own preconceptions are that the Marines & Army are more oriented towards 'ground', 'up close & personal' type operations, while the Navy is more 'ocean/aviation' oriented, and the Air Force more 'Air' oriented. They have seperate missions which at any one time must integrate with the other services and all are key in our defence and military operations.

We should be and are 'Proud' of all our branches and owe them much - they all put it all on the line for us.

There is a saying, and this is going to pull some 'boo's' - Why does the Navy usually carry a contingent of Marines aboard ship?

Im a Marine, ive been to 4 years of college then got into the Intelligence portion of the Marines.

Send your brother my way, ill prove to him that a Marine can beat him to the point he wont move!

Army always "looks" down upon Marines because we get more respect and "awwws" from the normal citizens.

The Marines is the toughest, most reliable, and proudest branch of them all.

well I think they are just giving you crap cause they are in the other branches. Some ppl may not like the marines cause they get bad press. Its intresting you posed this question when just last night I saw a documentary on a trial of 4 marines accused of murdering a local boy in Presidio, Tx. I dont know why ppl would hate them but maybe its stories like that one.

Army and Marines dont hate eachother its just they are competition with eachother. Airforce gets made fun of the most, no matter what anyone says from the airforce. Even thou you when you call the airforce in on the ground your like thank you airforce. Its just fun and games. But everyone is going to think their branch is the best no matter what. But the Army and Marines try to prove stuff to eahother because they want to outdo the other. But they dont hate hate eachother, when it comes down to it they will fight side by side. Its just military has jokes about each brnach going back from the old times. It just a way of giving crap. Get used to it if your joining and good luck. Plus once you become a marine then you can give your brother and dad s'hit. lol

Because the Marines and the Navy Seals are like the Best Military Branches. My sister and Her Husband are Marines and they sometimes talk mess about the Army.Most Marines do too.

Personally, I have seen "competition" between the different branches of the military. Everyone feels that their branch is better than another. Personally, I like the Marines the best and agree with a previous answer; the marines are the military backbone. I commend you for wanting to be a Marine. I know a few Marines and they are good men who are well trained. A close friend was in the Marines and later went Army to get more money for school. He LOVED the Marines far more than he liked the army.
GOOD LUCK and don't let your brother, father, or a friend talk you into anything other than what you want for yourself.

I'm glad that we have people who are willing to train as Marines. I think they are the backbone of our Armed Forces.

It's not that they dislike it. It is service rivalry. Each personnel of different branches make fun of one another or talk trash. Don't take it in so much.

Their dress uniform is too pretty maybe? The marine attitude is a bit too much for me. My wife was almost killed by a Marine on the highway in his big *** LAV. The driver wasn't thinking about safety when he decided to pass another vehicle. There are acceptable losses in combat operations but not in training and especially not when they involve American civilians. The marine safety record isn't all that great.
