I'm having the military's medical exam next week, how would I be able to prepare for it? what does it consist off? I'm a pretty fit person, but had a pneumothorax (a collapse lung) about 7 years ago, will this disqualify me from entering the military? It has bothered me ever since, in fact I train for triathlons. I would be really bummed out if the collapse lungs prevents me from entering....

If you don't tell them about it they won't know about it.
If it doesn't bother you, then nobody will ever know the difference.
If it does bother you, you should probably tell them.
I don't know if it would DQ you. But even if it did, there is probably a waiver. |

do not tell them...if it is fixed then dont tell...you MIGHT be disqualified |

I believe there is a waiver for it. You must tell them about it. You went to ER, therefore it is in your med docs and you will probably want to let the military know before they find out themselves and you face fraudulent enlistment. But someone asked this a while back on here. I'll link you to it.
Also this was pulled from the Army Regs.
"Current or history of pneumothorax (512) occurring during the year preceding examination, if due to trauma or surgery or occurring during the 3 years preceding examination from spontaneous origin, is disqualifying Recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax (512) is disqualifying" |
