What exactly do you do in the marines Delayed Entry Program?

Im currently in the DEP too. I am finishing up school at the moment. After this semester i will have enough credits to enlist as an E-3. If you have already started some college i would suggest finishing at least 20 credits for E-2 and 45 credits will get you E-3. As for what i do besides school...Some people have maintain a job until their ship date. I PT once a week with other recruits and lead them on runs if our recruiter is not present. You should maintain a strong work out ethic, since you are going in the marines. Study prior to BMT, figure out the ranking structure and know what you can expect from you MoS bases.

Depending on how your recruiters office is structured, you will PT anywhere from 1-12 times a month. It is suggested to find somebody with a similar ship date as you, and train with them on 'off' days.

As for getting on the AF base...that would be a tough one. Perhaps if MEPS is located there, you will be able to get on. I don't know the details about that, you'll have to ask your recruiter.

The more physically fit you are before basic, the easier it will be, and the more fun you will have. Even fit, you'll have a great challenge ahead of you!

You'll basically practice being a Marine recruit. you'll get a taste of pt, some running sit ups adn pull ups might do some swimming, a lot of it depends on your recruiter

It's your opportunity to get prepared for recruit training. Your recruiter should be establishing a physical fitness program for you based on how much time you have until you go. Also familiarizing you with the rank structure and answering any questions you have before you go off to experience an event that you will remember for the rest of your life. You don't get any military entitlements until you actually become a Marine, however your recruiter could take you by the base and show you the benefits you will get when you are a Marine. Another opportunity you have is while you are in the DEP you can talk to marines who have the same MOS as you and find out what they do. Bottom line it exposes you to the change of life you are getting ready to go through. Good Luck

You get military benefits (huge plus if you're near a military base), and practice being a Marine. PT, drill, socialize with other recruits. Basically, you pretend you're military before you get a nice sharp kick in the butt. But a lot of it is based on your recruiter.

Not sure if this is any help but in the Air Force DEP we just went to events like motorcross and college basketball games. We'd also do commanders call which was bascially where they just checked everyones weight to see if they were on the right track for BMT.
