We are trying to finish the job we set out to do. When the United States entered Iraq, we overthrew a dictator who was killing hundreds of thousands of his people. We know that this dictator was trying to create weapons of mass destruction (Not to be confused with nuclear) because we have found many different types of chemical warfare caches' around the country. Saran gas, Mustard gas, etc. a single detonation of one of these rounds could kill hundreds of thousands of people. I call that Mass Destruction.
Ok, now Sadam is captured, tried, convicted, and executed. Why are we still there?
The people that he had not killed yet should still have an opportunity to live free or die trying. We are trying to strengthen the military pawer of the government so that it can defend itself from dictators in neighboring countries.
This is going to take time, and yes American lives. folks, We have an ALL VOLUNTEER Army! This means that Every single person knew the risk they were taking when he/she signed up. It's not the Brownies! Many of these soldiers have reinlisted several times to get to a military retirement and I applaud them for this. However, if the ones who are screaming to get out had given the world a close look, they might have realized that, "We could get ourselves into a war I don't want to fight. Maybe I should think about what is more important, My retirement, or my lazy chicken ***!" Cindy Sheehan is about as anti-American as you can get. She has done nothing to further the troops to getting home, and rather caused our military to appear weak. Therefore giving our enemies the resolve to spend more money and increase their efforts.
Ask any North Korean or Vietnam General and they will tell you, They would have lost their fights with us except for the fact that they won the war of popular opinion in America.
Sometimes soldiers die. Sometimes a lot of soldiers die. That's the job people!
If you think that we've lost a lot of American soldiers in Iraq, then I suggest you go look at some of our more historical battles. Look at the argon forrest! Look at D-Day! Look at Guadalcanal! Look at most battles of the Civil War! Yes you have a lot of people who die, but the reward is in knowing that they have died for our freedom, the freedom of those who are oppressed, and the unborn children of our future.

asking this question, the biggest and most iggnorant answer you will be getting is '' stealing oil'' as you probably have noticed. In fact if that was true why would gas prices be high? why would be allowing Iraqi's to control these?? It doesnt take years to take that much oil haha. Iraq has oil but a lot of people should realize that they supply us with very little of our supply of our oil. If we wanted oil we would be gone and going to war with a country that would be more of a benefit with more oil. Yea the amount of oil there is enough to make a party (saddam's) right and keep the middle east in a choke hold but im pretty sure we could do without Iraq's oil.
Keep in mind, all of those soldiers regardless what anyone says, and a select few that are looking for media attention are in the war to do their jobs. Theres no weapons to protect against a car bomb, or not strategy to defend against cowards hiding in civilian places. We are not in a war with Iraq any longer, that was over the day we caught saddam. Did u fail to realize Iraq is fighting with us. Wars in the past have ended with an agreement when that country/countries we were fighting have mutually ended it. Neither of ''wars'' in Afghanistan or Iraq are US against the Citizens of that country.

I dont know where American's came up with the idea around 9/11 when we first decided to go to war in Afghanistan taht war is ''short term'' that war was an in and out thing. War takes years the same as government policies and bills that are passed to take full effect and actually do what they are supposed to. Lets not forget we are the U.S. because of wars and we fought for our country for years and years, why do we all of sudden believe we can sit in America and do nothing. The U.S. is a huge piece of the world. Eliminate the U.S. and see what happens. In any world issue.

And then protesters of ''bush'' walk around and scream no war... they are peace keepers huh? right, creating forms of not usually quiet and calm protesting. yeaah peace keepers. Lets cause contreversy that will help right?? haha its a joke. If u dont like it keep it too ur self, in 2008 you'll get to vote again. This time pick who you ''want'' and lets not complain when u pick the same guy 2 terms in a row. If he was so bad the first 4 years why'd u vote him in again.

If they weren't discriminating between the civilians and militants. The US wouldn't be suffering any casualties. They're preventing a civil war til governmental roots are established. They can be stopped but is hard because they use civilians as human sheilds. If you feel they cannot be stopped, then many US civilians will die unless they get everything they want.

This war is a must. We can either fight it now in Iraq or we can fight it in the future on our door step. But it will have to be fought to preserve our way of life.

The US has taken more than 2,000 killed in action in Iraq. The US took more than 4,000 killed in action on the morning of June 6, 1944, the first day of the Normandy Invasion to rid Europe of Nazi Imperialism. In W.W.II, the US averaged 2,000 KIA a week -- for four years. Most of the individual battles of W.W.II lost more Americans than the entire Iraq war has done so far.

But the stakes are at least as high ... A world dominated by representative governments with civil rights, human rights, and personal freedoms... or a world dominated by a radical Islamic Wahhabi movement, by the Jihad, under the Mullahs and the Sharia (Islamic law).

It's difficult to understand why the American left does not grasp this. They favor human rights, civil rights, liberty and freedom, but evidently not for Iraqis.

"Peace Activists" always seem to demonstrate here in America, where it's safe.

Why don't we see Peace Activists demonstrating in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, North Korea, in the places that really need peace activism the most?

The liberal mentality is supposed to favor human rights, civil rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity, etc., but if the Jihad wins, wherever the Jihad wins, it is the end of civil rights, human rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity, etc.

Americans who oppose the liberation of Iraq are coming down on the side of their own worst enemy.

We have four options:
1. We can defeat the Jihad now, before it gets nuclear weapons.
2. We can fight the Jihad later, after it gets nuclear weapons (which may be as early as next year, if Iran's progress on nuclear weapons is what Iran claims it is)
3. We can surrender to the Jihad and accept its dominance in the Middle East now and in Europe in the next few years or decades, and ultimately in America.
4. Or, we can stand down now, and pick up the fight later when the Jihad is more widespread and better armed, perhaps after the Jihad has dominated France and Germany and maybe most of the rest of Europe. It will, of course, be more dangerous, more expensive, and much bloodier.

If you oppose this war, I hope you like the idea that your children, or grandchildren, may live in an Islamic America under the Mullahs and the Sharia, an America that resembles Iran today.

Those who are willing to be the most ruthless always win. The pacifists always lose, because the anti-pacifists kill them.

If there was no oil in Iraq we would not even care. I have heard Generals on the news say outright that "we are protecting OUR natural resources". (Oil) It has been the stated policy of the U.S. Government that the protection of the oil in the Middle East is "In our vital interests" and if it is threatened we would respond with military force. For example, if the oil producing countries were to "Weaponize" the oil supply either by embargo or massive price increases, it would be grounds for military action. They all know this. I have heard their leaders say on the news that they would not use oil as a "weapon" because they know our policy and what would happen to them if they did. Saddam thought he knew better. He was dead wrong. What we are fighting for is our very survival. Its not about terrorism. The oil supply is quickly running out and Iraq has the last major oilfields left. In a few years , even that will be gone. Whoever controlls Iraq will have the whole world at their knees begging like starving children for scraps of bread. If you think things are bad now, just wait a few more years when all hell breaks loose. While we toole around in our gas guzzling SUV's the rest of the world will be starving. For more info , do a yahoo search on the term "Peak oil" . Your very life will depend on how well you prepare for what is coming. I am not a Religios fanatic. The people who have done this research are well respected scientists.
