I don't know. My son spent 9 months in the Persian Gulf,and came back very different. He will return back there in Feb. I'm not sure why.. My hope is that the fighting will someday soon end. |

Let me try this in easy to understand terms. Lets say DCFS (child protection agency) comes into a house of a family that has a mother, father & two kids 5 & 8 years old. They are there becuase of a complaint of child abuse.
They find the reports to be true. So they remove the mother and father from the house, but leave the children there to fend for themselves.
Does that make sense? Well if we went in removed saddam (their leaders of the house) for abuse and then jsut left the country to fend for themselves would that make sense? |

well if we leave now, there will be a **** storm in the middle east bigger than anyone can imagine. The Iranians will invade Iraq, the Iraqis will resume killing each other, and then the terrorists will have a pretty sweet set up for a base of operations. Not to mention that if all U.S. presence was taken out of the middle east we'd be throwing every person in Israel to the wolves. So thats why. |

Strange then that Iraq has all that oil, yet folk have to wait in line for several hours before being allowed to load half a gallon of juice into their family banger....what's that all about?

No they're the only thing keeping Iran and/or Al Qaeda from coming in and taking over. The war may have been a bad idea but pulling out the troops would be an even worse idea. |

Well they haven't secured the oil yet for one thing so I suppose you could say that you have overlooked that, do you think that they are going to leave now with their tails between their legs. Even if (IF) there is a change in administration in the US they cannot pull out even if they wanted too, because they have spent too much cash and lost too many lives to be able to leave without some cast iron guarentees. |

Yes, you have overlooked that they are maintaining stability. It is simplistic to think you can just run out of a country after over-throwing their government. That only makes things much, much worse. |

Don't forget it's not just the US & UK forces in Iraq there are forces from other countries there as well. Personally I cannot see a total withdrawal of troops ever happening. The governments of these forces have entered into something that is going to be extremely difficult to get out of. What happens to the Iraqi's if all the troops pull out? They will be left to defend themselves with a weakend armed force. Unless all the different cultures within the Iraqi nation start to get along with one another they don't stand a chance. |

The only thing you have overlooked is the fact that Iran has already plainly stated that they will fill any vacuum we leave behind. In other words, when we leave and if that is before Iraq has an able standing Army and Air Force to defend it's borders, Iran will over run Iraq in a heart beat. |
