The reason so littele structural damage was done was because that section had JUST ( I mean it wasn't even reopened yet) been reinforced heavily to withstand, ironically enough.. an attack.

The reason you don't hear much about it is the military is a family, and as such, we tend to keep things within that family. We don't need to spend countless hours whinging on national TV. The military does NOT like the media as ageneral rule, for a number of reasons. Partly becasue of security issues, partly becasue of all the bad press they've gotten over the years, and partly cuz , well, it ain't none of your business.

Trust me. every year, our Community remembers the 8 Sailors from it who died that day in that building.

All I know is that the plane hit the Pentagon and killed people. How many I do not know. My seventh grade teacher son works in the Pentagon. Luckily when it happened he was out on business. He had sent her some pictures of the damage it had done. There was a huge hole in the side. That's all I can remember.

I saw the plane go in that day. I was less than a quarter mile away and I watched it happen. I can assure you, it was a commercial airliner. We could see bits of clothes and things from people's luggage falling from the sky after the explosion.

You can't see the debris because it's too far inside. The Pentagon is not a single building--- it is a series of pentagon-shaped buildings, each one a little larger than the last, and built around each other. These are pretty big buildings and there's a good amount of space in between. It's a long way from the innermost part of the inner ring to the outermost part of the outer ring. And when the plane hit, it went all the way through the first two rings and most of the way through the third.

So the reason you can't see the debris is because the hole the plane made is deeper than the length of the plane. If you imagine parking your car allll the way inside your garage, as close to the wall as you can get, then standing off to the side a bit. You can't see your car any more. Your car did not disappear--- it just is in a place where it can't be seen from where you are standing.

There was a relatively low body count compared to what might have been. The Pentagon had been undergoing reconstruction for many, many months before 9/11. One of the things they were doing was reinforcing the walls and they had already completed work on the side where the plane hit. These reinforcements are probably the only reason the entire side of the building did not collapse and are a big part of why there were not more victims. I did see school busses loaded with "the walking wounded" --- injured people who did not have critical injuries. The busses pull up to the hospital and the people are treated right there on the bus, which keeps the emergency room and trauma areas free for the critical patients.

It did hit. Most of the conspiracy theorists forget two extremely important facts.

1. The plane was travelling at normal cruising speed, around 500 MPH, give or take a few MPH. This, along with the fire from the nearly full fuel tanks ignited a fire that consumed most of what was already shattered to toothpick sizes.

2. The Pentagon was undergoing a hardening and refit to help protect it against terrorist attacks. While the project was intended to protect from an attack more along the lines of Khobar Towers or OKC proportions, it did significantly reduce the damage that the Pentagon suffered. The plane hit a section that the rework had just been completed on. This hardening of the Pentagon contributed significantly to the devastation and utter destruction of the aircraft itself, while minimizing the damage to the Pentagon.

Had the Pentagon not undergone the refit and hardening, or if the aircraft had hit a section that had not been modified yet -- a bit to the right would have made a major difference -- the damage and loss of life would have been much more significant.

And I don't know where you get the idea that there wasn't any media coverage of it. You must have been living in an old refrigerator on Sadam Hussein's back porch for most of the past 5 years.

Good question with a lot of answers not being given. I think it would be great if our government leveled with us and told us the truth about what happened. I don't know what the truth is but I have a deep feeling it's not what the government has spewed forth so far.

A Plane crashed into one side of the Pentagon, obliterating a large portion of it. Many people died, many evacuated, many injured.

There was carnage and loss at the pentagon, but guess what? They were military personnel for the most part. The only way to get military deaths into the news is to have them killed in an action the media doesn't like.

We accidently crash a Chinook helicopter in Iraq, it is news for days. One crashes on maneuvers in Louisiana? Makes local news, maybe a blip on FOX.

there are alot of theories about what happened to the pentagon through documentaries and such. One of the leading theories is that a plane did not crash into it. based on the damage that was caused and parts to the plan that were never found, we beleive that a missile was launched into it. It is also weird that no camera on the pentagon got this cause they were all turned away, the only camera that saw what happened was on a gas station across the street and that was confiscated.
