What happens if i join the Army after recieving a college degree in Law Enforcement?

I have been thinking about going into the military ever since I was little kid. I'm not interested in going for an MOS as an MP, my field of interest, rather, is to go for one of the Ranger Battalions. How would my degree be looked at?

i'm not enrolled in the ROTC either.

Well even though you do not want to go into that field. You can try and go in as an officer. If you do not want that route. then maybe you can atleast try to let them sign you in as a higher rank than private to start off. |

Your degree will give you promotion points (and a higher entry rank) but it will not be used to stick you with a job.
Enlist for infantry with a ranger option. |

While your degree would certainly help getting into the MP's, I don't see how it could hinder you in joining the Rangers. I would get in touch with a recruiter. By the way, you didn't mention if you went out for ROTC while in college (a big plus). Good luck. |

Good in everyone's eyes and if you enlist, you will got in as an E-4 and if you go in as an officer, you go in as an 0-1. |

Well, to some extent you would be wasting your degree unless you wanted to get super-serious about things and enlist and then go to OCS and become an officer. That's a lot of work, just so you know. If you decide to, make sure OCS gets into your original enlistment contract, you would have to go to enlisted basic training first and soon there-after OCS. There is no guarantee you would be accepted into OCS and if you fail OCS, you would revert back to enlisted status, even if you fail through no fault of your own, such as an injury. It's the sort of thing that you should have done more methodically because now you are sort of working backwards. You don't want to stay enlisted as a college graduate and I wouldn't suggest joining the military just because it's something you've "always wanted to do." If that's the case then you should have done it already, not now. |
