Marine Corps boot camp is 13 weeks long. After graduation though, Marines get to go home for 10 days of leave, then it's off to MCT or SOI for grunts, then to MOS school, and finally the fleet. |

First... Marine's call it "Boot Camp"
Second... Its 13 weeks, 1 week of in-processing followed by 12 weeks of training
Immediately following graduation they are granted 10 days of leave.
After that they report to the MOS school. The lenght varies depending on their MOS
After they complete MOS school they are assigned their first duty station. If they are single (unmarried) they are housed in the barracks. If they are married they either receive on-post housing or BAH for off base housing. Duty stations are normally for 3 years. |

Marine Corps training is called "Boot Camp". The Army calls theirs "Basic Training". Boot Camp is about 13 weeks. Than you usually get 10 days off. Than you go to basic infantry training (all Marines do). Than you go to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) and where you go depends on which MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) you have. AIT has different lengths to how long they last. This is individual on the times they will get off how long the training after Boot Camp lasts etc. |

Boot Camp is 13 weeks long. If you live West of the mississippi river, you go to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, If you live East of the mississippi or if you're a female, you'll go to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. Once you're done with boot, you'll report to School of Infantry Camp Pendleton for all the West coast marines or Camp Lejeune for East coast. If you have an infantry contract, you'll go through 8 weeks of hell in Infantry training battalion where you'll also learn your infantry specialty. if you have any other job, or you're a female, you'll go through five weeks of marine combat training. After that you're off to your specialty school if you're a POG(people other than grunts). If you're a infantryman(grunt) you're off to the fleet. |

they would live at home because they would not have made it through boot camp at six weeks.
KING DIN, although your math is right 14 is longer than 13 you are forgeting that if you are an infantry Marine you have at least another six weeks at the School Of Infantry (SOI) so I'm not trying to degrade you either but my math is pretty good too. |

what a joke.
it's 13 weeks, first of all.
after that they'll get 10 days leave (unless they get RA and it can be up to 30 days in that case). then they go to MCT/SOI
then they'll go to their MOS school.
then home again.
then their first duty station.
then deployed sometime in the near future.
while at their duty station others are allowed to visit. |

some people on here sound so dumb... im not going to name names but her name starts with MAY.... . FYI the Army Basic Training isnt 6 weeks either mash brains.... We go through a rigorous 9 weeks.... and another 5 for AIT if you are INFANTRY.. AND TO SQUASH ANY RUMORS OR MYTHS.... AIT FOR INFANTRY IS JUST ANOTHER DAY AT BOOT CAMP! SO WE HAVE A TOTAL OF 14 WEEKS CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN THE CIVILIAN WORLD..... AND WHAT THE MARINES BELIEVE SAYING THEY HAVE A LONG BOOT CAMP..... 14 WEEKS BEATS 13.... BY 1 WEEK.... BUT THIS ISNT A MATTER OF ARGUEING OR DEGRADING... JUST LETTING ALL YOU FAKE INTERNET MARINES KNOW BECAUSE REAL MARINES KNOW THIS ALREADY.....(and another thing... Infantry training is never REALLY over....) get that in your brains... maybe for POG's BUT NEVER FOR US..... |

They do another 6 weeks, then do a tech school if applicable and then their permanent duty station. |

Honey, it's way more than six weeks. It's more like 13.
After BOOT CAMP there's 10 days of leave, unless they get RA, and that's usually 30 days, so they get to go home. Then they go off to schooling for however long it lasts for their MOS. I know SOI is two months long for infantry. Don't expect to be making phone calls during the week in SOI. After that, they get sent to their duty station. You get libo on the weekends. If you're married you'll be in base housing and you get to go home (unless your unit screws up, you're standing duty, or if they just like screwing with you period). If you're in the barracks, after you get off you can do what you want, pretty much. |

Marines go to boot camp, not basic training. When my husband went, it lasted 13 weeks not 6! then theres graduation, which you can go to if you want and they can leave with you after the ceremony. after that, he got 1 day traveling time and 10 days leave to spend at home. then he had to finish SOI and MOS before getting his perm. duty station. where he goes for SOI depends on if he goes to parris island or san diego for bootcamp...my hubby was at parris island and went to north carolina after that...i think Marines out of san diego stay on the west coast. i guess it can be different for certain people depending on all kinds of things but thats basically what it is. |

Once out of basic training , they usually go to a short infantry training regiment and do some training on tactics , shooting , traveling , etc in an organized platoon of men . After that they are assigned Mos and sent off for leave , usually a short 10 days or so and then to their MOS school wherever it might be . Once at the school , they could be there anywhere from one month or so to a year or better , then to a duty station to join their new outfit ground troops or aviation squadron . There they will perform their jobs daily and when the unit gets called up to go somewhere , they will pack their gear and get ready to leave . They earn 30 days leave a year and they can take it pretty much as they please so yes they can come home or go where they want when on leave . Overseas they can only go witin the limits of their location . The sometimes get R&R for a period of seven days and go somewhere . They just can't be gone too long .
Hope this helps you . Semper Fi |

Thats 12 weeks and they Go to a technical school (most of them) |
|

Obama will lose, wait and see
|
They will go to the school to learn their job. If married, the family can go there; but, it would be better if the family waited until they completed school.
Is it 6 or 12 weeks. I know in the Army; during war the class is cut short. They have a peace time vs war time schedule. The Marines may have this as well (this is for the one that said 'try 12 weeks) |

Well basic is longer than 6 weeks for marines. But I'm not for sure but when the marine is out he/she gets a little time off and then gets deployed to MOS training. |

^? Are you kidding? You cannot make a Marine in 6 weeks. We are not the same as the Army, Airforce or Navy!
After 12 weeks of Marine Corps boot camp we usually have no more than 10 days of leave & be prepared to meet a new improved person. |
