What happens to people in boot camp that cant handle the mental and physical strain? What about this man..?

A 24 year old white male who signed on with the national guard and will begin boot camp soon. Although he is at a healthy weight, he does not seem physically healthy. He suffers from depression, low stress tolerance, very low immunity, and just doesnt seem to have the drive to ever help himself. His "lazyness" has gotten him fired on a few occasions. He is a smoker who requires a great deal of sleep- yet still always seems to be tired even when he gets enough. He has suffered with anxiety and anger as well as the depression. Could this man succeed in boot camp?
Additional Details
I should add that I believe he is no longer on meds for the depression (he was on zoloft for a while).

No. He will not do well in basic. He will be chaptered out of the Army under a general discharge for failure to adapt. The army is trying very hard to remedy the damage it did to itelf by lowering it's standards so far to make up for the demands of manpower caused by the ongoing war in Iraq and Afganistan. Believe me, the Army does NOT want anyone like this serving, not even in the national guard. |

well to join any service you have to pass physicals and stress tests and all sorts of stuff, so that basically tells you if you can make it. If that person were to make it into boot camp and wasnt able to finish or gave up you can leave, but its a discharge and very frowned upon. |

If he was honest in his application, he would not be aloud in, because of depression, and some of the other stuff. |

He wouldn't make it to meps. as soon as he gave the information to the recruiter, if he was a decent recruiter, he would DQ him. but just to make sure he would send his stuff to meps for a consult, and they would give him an official DQ. |
