What happens when you chance MOS?

My husband has been in the army for almost 2 years and is about to reenlist, but he wants to change his MOS. I am just curious how it works, I mean with him having to go to AIT again. I am wondering if I will be able to stay here on the post we are living at now or will I have to go with him with it only being a 8 week school? The other question is, do you get a new pick of station or are you sent back to the post you came from?? If any one has any answer or any information about changing MOS let me know. Thanks!

If he gets to change his MOS he will go TDY to AIT. Depending on how long his school is, where he is going after for a follow on assignment and how long between when he completes school and his report date will determine if he goes TDY enroute or TDY enreturn. His orders will state if dependents are authorized but usually unless the school is more than 24 weeks they discourage bringing your dependents due to lack of housing.

The most likely option is TDY enreturn which means he will leave you where you are, go to school then come back for you to PCS to his next duty station. If you have additional questions let me know as we just went through this situation last year.

You should be able to stay where you are if he goes to AIT (again). Where he is stationed depends on his mew MOS. If he is needed at the same base, great. If not, he will be sent and he will have orders to move you.

Generally, you would stay where you are and he would do his training and more than likely pick a new post and go there.

Not all bases require all MOS's.
