If you could pick your favorite duty station, for whatever reason, what is it?

NSA Mid-South, Millington, Post 9/11 Security duty. The teams were great, had LOTS of time off, working 12 hour shifts 2 on 3 off, 3 on, 2 off, so every other weekend was a three day weekend.
There was no base galley, so the base added an extra $900. a month for meals. Every sailor there had their own personal room with no inspections, private heads, queen size beds.
Every one of us there knew that no matter where we went after that, that we would NEVER have it that good again.
I miss my team,the civilians that worked on base, the area.... GOOD TIMES! |

US Embassy Dublin Ireland. I am Irish and boy can they party over there! Also, the country itself is beautiful. When you are there, you understand why they call it the Emerald Isle. I don't think I have ever seen so much green countryside in my life. |

Actually, Fort Shafter, in the mountains above Pearl Harbor. Great view, wonderful place, it's freaking paradise!
BTW, Tripler AMC is pretty nice too. |

My favorite duty station while in the Navy was Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific. Unfortunately the command does not exist any more, the base was taken over by COM3RDFLT. It was a good place to go as a student, and was a good place to work as an instructor. We were allowed to work in relative autonomy as long as we met our objectives. |

As a Marines being on nave ships and in the Caribbean we did mock landings via water and helicopter during our cruises as we called them, length of the cruise (4 to 6 months). But the liberty on those Caribbean Island’s was better then any place I can think of. Of course this was back in the 60’s. |
