A civvie is a civilian - it's also the term we use for civilian clothes (as in get you civvies on). |

Civvies are those who aren't in the forces, It's like getting out of uniform and blending in with the others by wearing 'normal' clothes.Some times refers to people who work in the forces but aren't in them,i.e civvy worker on base |

Yes, civvie is slang for 'civilian' a person not serving in the armed forces or in particular the army.
We have to be careful with the missuse of the word civvie, since it never applies to old soldiers and never ever to veterans, because like the saying goes, "Old Soldiers never die, they only fade a way."
civvie = non military civilian person, man or woman
civvie street = where a person of non military lives and works etc. |
