I am 16, an honor student and I am intersted in the navy to serve my country but also to help pay for college. Is this a good option for me?

If you enjoy the water, yes :) being on a submarine or ship for six months is not for those who dislike water.
But joining the service is a fantastic way to pay for college! Any of the branches will give you fantastic benefits. Health insurance, a roof over your head, a steady paycheck...you can't beat it! |

It could be, but that all depends on you. The Navy has its ups and its downs. There are positives and negatives for women in the Navy. There'll always be the guys that think you're being treated better because you're a woman. And there will be times that that's true. There'll also be some people that respect you less because you're a woman. Be prepared to spend months at a time away from land and your loved ones. Whatever you choose, best of luck with it. |
