I suspect it has something to do with the fact that the country is quite poor. If he threatens the world with the possibility of using the nukes, he gets the US's attention. Ultimately, I am sure he hopes to get something for agreeing not to use the nukes if he can play his cards right. |

Well, Kim is starving his own people so he's not a popular guy to begin with. He's backed by China and wants to be the biggest kid on the block. China wants to take us on but they are biding their time and using this as an experiment to see what we do.

Republicans have always wanted us out of the UN, the reason is they don't want to talk about problems in the world, the Neocons want to tell other countries how it will be under our rule.
N.Korea is no different then any other country, they have been ignored now for 6 years by Republicans. BTw, the President of N. Korea is a mad man he is far, far worse than Saddam ever was. He has starved over one million people to build his military might. Just as we have taken from working class tax payers to spend on the might of our power.
N. Korea has a one million man Army and so does China, we should be doing what we can to make friends. The USA could be invaded with under 500,000 troops. China has 10 times the tanks we have and we have 130,000 troops troops in Iraq. Iraq is the size of Texas and the civil war there will last over 10 years.
Working class tax payers will pay the $2 trillion cost of the war in Iraq and in the end Iran will control Iraq. |

Because it's obvious. If you've got nuclear missiles you get a little more respect than you would if you didn't. See Iraq. N. Korea being what it is, well, really, Kim Jong Il, being who he is, needs those nuclear missiles because if he didn't he'd be just another Saddam, a ruthless dictator with no country to rule and probably dead. It goes far beyond attention, it's survival. He might seem crazy, but he certainly isn't stupid. |
