For History, I have to write a paper on controversies of the domino theory.
I need some evidence supporting it and that it was a legit reason for entering the Vietnam war.

The domino theory was accurate. The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries,Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand stayed free of Communism because of the U.S.commitment to Vietnam. The Indonesians threw the Soviets out in 1966 because of America's commitment in Vietnam. Without that commitment, Communism would have swept all the way to the Malacca Straits that is south of Singapore and of great strategic importance to the free world. If you ask people who live in these countries that won the war in Vietnam, they have a different opinion from the American news media. The Vietnam War was the turning point for Communism. |

the domino theory was believed that if the u.s. and arvn(army of the republic of vietnam) and the french and all others involved... lost the war to the vietcong and nva (north-vietnamese army) that other un-communist countries would also fall to the North Vietnamese. But technically North Vietnam did NOT win so therefore the countries surrounding it were not neccesarily put into the war against communism. |

The domino theory stated that if the USA "allowed" Vietnam to become a communist nation, then the other nations around them would soon fall like dominos and become communist also. Vietnam DID become communist and the others did not. So much for that theory... |
