What is the argument Stanley Kubrick is making about the Cold War in "Dr. Strangelove"?

What is the argument Stanley Kubrick is making about the Cold War in "Dr. Strangelove"?

I need a clear thesis and at least one piece of supporting evidence. It needs to be 1-3 sentences long and under 50 words total.

I know that Kubrick uses sarcasm and irony to comment on the war, but I just don't know what he's trying to say about the war. We watched this movie in my US History class, and I was so confused and bored out of my mind.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Bored out of your mind?? I guess you're too young to remember the Cold War. It was touch and go for a while there - civilization could have been completely wiped out if the Cold War had gone Hot. And it nearly happened at least once. I thought the movie was pretty funny, but then again, I can remember the collapse of the Soviet Union.

I'm not going to do your homework for you - find your own supporting evidence and write your own 50 words. But to give you a starting point:

He was saying that

A. Nuclear war would be a terrible disastrous event

and B. Nuclear war could happen FAR too easily (at least it could at the time of the movie)

Do some more research on the Cold War and on how badly a nuclear war between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. would have turned out. To you, this stuff is just history. But ask your parents how it really felt during the Cold War.

You were bored by Dr. Strangelove????

Now that is truly weird.
