The Air Force owns the skies. The Navy owns the ocean and sea front. The Marines win battles, but the Army win wars. |

They are all very important, and they all serve a different purpose. I think they are equal. |

They're all equally important, having different missions to carry out. |

Hello
|
i once asked a recruiter if there are any rivalry between the branches. he told me that they dont compete against each other. he also told me that in a war, all branches are supposed to work together. there is no better branches, the us military would not be effective if it lacks anyone of the branches. |

Well obviously you know what I'm going to say here. But think about it, we do handle all of the toughest **** our country gets into. Not to mention we are the first to go in and the last ones out. We have our own planes, helicopters, boats and tanks. I do respect all the branches and they are all important. But the nation wouldn't be the same with out a Devil Dog. |

The most important military service is swearing to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, and giving your life in defense of that oath for the sake of the American people.
As for interservice comparisons and rivalry, they are worthless. We all work under the same national colors. |

Given that we are bordered by only 2 countries (Mexico and Canada), neither of which are now a threat to us, nor are they going to be a threat to us in the conceivable future, then the USN is the most important branch. The US has been a maritime power since WWI, and the most powerful maritime power since WWII. We don't have to worry about an invasion from any foreign countries because nobody else has a navy anywhere near powerful enough to get past the USN in order to conduct an amphibious landing on our coasts. The USN protects our trade, which is extremely important given that most of the world's goods are shipped by sea. The USN allows us to project power overseas to protect our interests and those of our allies. This capability is even more important now because of the paucity of overseas bases we now have compared to a decade or two ago.
Control of the seas and the ability to project power overseas is paramount to the protection of the US and the maintaining of our superpower status. |

They all work hard & together to keep us save & may they be safe in return. In Iraq where the Army's motto of "Follow ME"
seems the most true.
Air Force deploys 3,000
Marines deploy 23,000
Army deploys 136,000
Air Force has little support & does a dangerous job deploys 90 days at a time.
Marines train hard & get the job done.
Army deploys 12 plus months at a time defending & protecting.
All compliment each other - Hooah! |

Each section of the service is important.
Each has a distinct job to do.
I believe the footsloggers have the toughest job because their
combat is face to face on the ground .
But they are "all" heroes because without them we would not have peace in our country as well as those countries living under dictatorships who need help to be set free from a viscious system.
Take care! |

To the guy that says the Marines have their own planes, helicopters, equipment etc...
Let me say....M en A re R iding In N avy E quipment....
But my take on it is you can't be successful without the other... Army overall holds the positions in place to keep everything under control...Air Force supplies ariel reconissance for a heads up on missions as well as technology for communications etc. Marines pave the way, Navy supplies the best medical treatment, special Ops, ariel defenses (because lets get real, most fighter pilots are Navy)....And well the Marines need the Navy to even well....exist. |

To protect the US from attack and that's it! Not to further democracy under the guise of acquiring oil or anything else. |

Air force. Who know what if you do not win the air battle? |

They are all equally important. Some may say the Marines, because they are usually the first to go into a dangerous situation. |

you cant win a war without air power. sure theyre gonna send in the troops first. if it cant be resolved on the ground, they bring in the overhead. marines win it on the ground. if they cant, we finish it. |
