What is the most intense military training in the USA?

Michael E
In terms of Basic Training, the Marine Corps has the longest, and toughest training, it lasts 13 weeks.

In terms of training beyond basic, any special forces is very very difficult.

"It's probably the USAF pararescue indoc training. The wash out rate is amazingly high. "
Well, washout rate really doesnt determine how tough a course is, AF doesnt train as physically as the Marine Corps.

And no im not being biased towards the Marine Corps either, im just using them as a basic example.

Some would say Force Recon, others would say Ranger, some would say Army Special Forces ("Green Berets").

Everyone has their own opinion. In my belief, I think it would be Navy SEALS.

Anyone else care to enlighten?

The most academically challenging training in the US military is the US Army 'Master Gunner' school.

They only accept the top 5% of expierenced tank commanders and the course is designed to wash out 60% of them. (If you do not score an 'A' on any exam - you failed.)

This is the only course where if you fail - you are still given an 'exceeded the standards' check on your next NCO evaluation report.

That's really subjective. Pretty much any special forces. In most branches you'd start at infantry unless you could get a special forces MOS. It's probably the USAF pararescue indoc training. The wash out rate is amazingly high. They put you through extremely stressful conditions that most people just can't handle. I also think it is pararescue because they are paramedics too. They get a lot of medical expertise. Also, they do every kind of parachuting (line, HALO, etc), scuba diving, and everything else that all the other special forces groups do. They need to be able to rescue any special forces team (or downed pilot) that gets in trouble.

My vote goes to Force Recon. But that's just because I'm a Marine.

Any of the Special Ops units are pretty intense.
