My dad was in Ft. Leonard Wood (sp?) in Missouri back in the Vietnam War era. He was also in South Korea, and some other places. |

Id have to say for Air force Patric Air force base. From what Ive heard it is hard to get transfered to be stationed there but it is nice and very close to the beach. |

I lived in Baumholder Germany for 5 years as a civilian (child), I loved it. Lots of places to explore around the housing area, woods and fields. About twice a year the sheep would be herded through, grazing as they went along, by a shepherd and his dog, really cool thing to watch. Also, lots of snow in the winter- wunderbar! |

i believe my son preferred ft leonard wood (lost-in-the-woods), over ft stewart. i know my daughter preferred ft bragg over ft gordon, ft benning, or ft jackson. he's now in iraq, so i KNOW that that isn't even in the top 100 choices. |

Our favorite base so far has been Eielson Afb in North Pole, Ak. We loved the really long days during the summer for camping, fishing or going to places like Denali National Park. My husband absolutely loved the fact there was snow on the ground for about 4 months of the year. The people that live in North Pole and Fairbanks were wonderful. Alaska is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It so pristine and untouched because alot of people can't handle the isolation or the harsh winters. |
