They make me sick. One of the great things about America is that we are all free to have our own thoughts and opinions and freely express them. I am ashamed of those who bash our country as well as the President. Whether they like Bush or not, he is our president and to bash him is a slap in the face to the democracy of America. I'll bet a large majority of those who are criticizing America and the shape she is in right now, didn't even bother to vote at the last elections, nor have they followed up on how their congressmen are voting on issues. Better yet, they probably don't even know WHAT the lawmakers are voting on. Those elected officials are there to represent us. If no one takes the time to contact them, they they can vote their own personal opinion. But if they are swamped with constituents opinions, they they are obligated to vote the voice of the people.

Americans who do not take the time to stay involved in how and what their government is up to are downright UN- AMERICAN. Think about it, if you could do stuff without anyone watching, what would you do?

I don't hate America, I am quite thankful for what I have and the freedoms that I have grown up with. However, I do have a very strong dislike for American society in general. We are pompous, arrogant, individualistic, lazy idiots and I think that is why we hear so much that people hate Americans.

I should add also that I appriciate everyone who fights for my right to be arrogant and lazy. There are too many countries with no freedom at all and I am glad to live in the USA.

(You would probably have to know me to get all my ideas on the subject)

You cannot love so many people you do not know! Just because someone is called an American does not make them automatically worthy or unworthy ,of good character nor bad.

Nor can you generalize about people who are critical or use humor about their own country.

The real problem is that all people, Americans included, like to generally pat themselves on the back or diminish their failings. Often the most insecure among us are too sensitive about their human failings. Some are good at goading because they take advantage of these human traits. Some people are self loathing. Others do seem to hate their own country.

However, it is not their words that matter. It is their actions that tell the truth. That goes for the so called "I love America Crowd". They also can say one thing and do another. They also can be scoundrels hiding behind what people want to hear.

It should not be assumed you are self loathing just because you do not outwardly pat yourself on the back and sometimes are self critical.

Our discourse all too often has too much emphasis on beliefs. Beliefs are the things that divide people. Most belief is unfounded and not based on facts.

By comparison what unites people are what we value family,friends, pocket book issues such as a heathy economy etc. These are based upon waht really impacts our lives. These things you have in common with the so called "Hate America Crowd"

If you truly have a hatred of the country you should leave. However, pointing out some of the problems that need to be worked on is the highest form of patriotism. The my country right or wrong attitude is foolish.

i think that if someone lives here and has a problem with the USA then they need to pack up all of there **** and get the **** out of here. we have no room for people that take advantage of our country but then doesn't even give anything back in return. i am proud of my country and have no use for people that are like that.

I don't think much of them. They aren't being held here against they will, so there's a reason why they are here. I think they just like to complain. Its their right to express themselves as they like. Its what makes this country great. If you gave those people a chance to leave, they wouldn't. I guess its ok for them not to like America, as long as they keep paying those taxes!!!

The First Amendment gives all people in the USA the right to speak freely. This also includes the ability to critisize the country, people, and even the Government. Those rights are used every day in news print, letters, and even e-mail or web chat rooms. They are for everybody or not for any body. That was what the fore fathers set it up to do. As for what they do here visiting? I believe that they need to take their sorry tails out of the country and go some where else. If you are a foriener in the USA you are a guest and you came here on your own because the USA had something to interest you or your life style. If you are not a citizen you should remember that because It isn't your country. IT IS OURS... Deal with that or go home!!!

For the American citizens many don't have the slightest idea how well they have it. Even the poorest in this country would be considered wealthy in many 3rd world countries.

This country gave them free speech, offered to educate them, but one can lead a horse to water that doesn't mean it will drink.

America as I knew it growing up no longer exists,I am reminded more and more every day of (the iron curtain).THE U.S.A. used to be something you could say with pride,and hold your head high.
About the time people began cheating on the elections and getting away with it I might add,I to have to join the ranks of (what the hell are these people thinking?

If you're an American, citizen then it's ok to criticize the country because it's one of our inalienable rights. The point of that criticism is supposed to be to bring attention to something you think is wrong with your country and you are trying to make it better. If you're not a citizen and live here or you only want to embarrass the country and make it look bad, you should only do it from OUTSIDE the country. You should not be comfortable in the securities and luxuries of MY country and then bite the hand that feeds you. If you come from another country, don't you dare refer to where you come from as, "my country" when you refer to the country that you DESERTED because it was some 3rd world shyt hole where you lived in a tin shack or a mud hut with no electricity and no running water. Don't come here, leach off the system, work illegally, take a job from a legal resident or natural citizen and then complain how bad things are. NO ONE ASKED YOU TO COME HERE AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - GO BACK WHERE YOU COME FROM. But if you come here legally and want to contribute and speak out on something that is wrong with the sole intention of making it better, then that's OK.

Often they are called "Patriots." This nation is once again in a transitional phase, the old are passing away and the new are gaining expierence. Much of that leads to issues arising that have to be addressed. Sometime being frustrated with the situation, and voicing negative opinions is the only way to be heard, the same with humor. Being a "Patriot" is not saying I am going along with the crowd just becasue it is my home, being a Patriot is looking at the situation, seeing the issues arise that need to be addressed, and voicing that opinion, or objection. I am proud of my nation. The world owes the internet to this nation (both the TCP/IP protocal and much of what went into developing the internet came out of the DOD). That is just one thing we have done in the world for the world. There is now a global communications network because of what we brough to bare in the marketplace. The world owes it to the US that the PC even exist in the first place. The TRS-80 I and the Apple both came out of the US. The PC was an invention of IBM. The chip that they run on came from TI, and Motorola. The transister came from AT&T. We gave birth to the idea of self-government. There is much that this nation is to be proud of. However, that does not mean that everything this nation does is perfect. We express ideas, and we grow. Sometimes growth is painful, and uncomfertable. Right now we are growing again. Learning. Becoming something more then what we were. It is uncomfertable, but we will survive it.
