What is your opinion: Keep troops in Iraq, or bring them home?

Bring them home. My reasoning is that is already deposed Saddam and destroyed the weapons he had. At that point we won the war. We will never be able to stop the Shiites and Sunnis from fighting each other because they disagree over who is the legitimate heir to Mohammad. We can't solve that dispute, so we are sacrificing our troops for a religious dispute that we have no interest in or any hope of every resolving.

I would let the soldiers stay. My reasoning of this is not what I believe but, what they the soldiers believe. They have been put in and pulled out several times. From what I hear from from some soldiers is that they want this finished once and for all. Note that this is not my opinion. It is the opinion of some soldiers that I have heard.

Keep them in Iraq. Right now Iraq has no permanent government of stability. If we take the troops out, another dictator (probably one of Saddam's followers) will take over again. All of the hard work and lives sacrificed would have been for nothing. We need to see this through.

pull out now will make Iraq a mess - and later we, ourselves, must come back to clean this mess or we will have no safe future (we lost VN war, Korean war, Gulf War is undone... ; now they come back to haunt us). But the soldiers next time will be our children, not us anymore!

Keep the troops in Iraq, but away from the civil war. Just guard the border.

my opinion is bring them home because a lot of troops in iraq want to go home and live and ordinary life meaning that a lot of people have died for gunshots and stuffed and familes have to be grivefing or crying about them i am not saying that every one don't have to died but in this present world every one have to live like it was there last day on earth that my opinion.

bring them home all we are doing over there is getting our men and women killed for stupidity, we need them here and they should be put on our borders to help stop the illegal invasion of our country, mexico has stated that they are doing a silent invasion yet the president and everyone else just lets it continue, and the military guys that shot and killed a mexican druglord are now in jail so it seems to me america only supports illegal and crinimals these days so whatever this country is is on a fast trip to third world country status

Dude (2 people up) they *had* WMD. How else would they gas the Kurds? Where the WMD went before we went it is anyones guess.

We wnt over there to find WMD's, but guess what we never found any. It is a good thing to get the insane Husseins out of there, but we should leave. The only thing is if we leave the sunnies or whom ever is just sitting back and allowing the certain groups to fight, then that one group who just sits back and gathers munitions and troops is going to destroy the leeser groups and another bunch of Husseins are going to go and concour and rule, which is not good for the true and good people. I agree we should not be there, and yes we should just bomb the hell out of the place, but that makes us no better than any of the punks who would do the same to us. I say we should give them a little help, attack where we can and get out. I watched on CNN, there is a group hiding with the civilians and they are becoming heavily armed, just waiting for us to leave. Then they are going to kick butt on the lesser ones. What happened to intel, don't we have a clue on who is doing this stuff over there? I mean come on there are some highly paid people that say, "oh were intel, but we don't have a clue, just keep paying for my title and I'll keep pulling your leg". Meanwhile we have many people dieing, and one american dies that is one too many. Either someone gets screwed. It's is either them or us, and we loose out on money and a few good men. They loose out on a whole society. No winners here. Truly we can not win another country's civil war. But it is hard to sit and watch the biggest bully kick the smaller guys butt. But we should not be there.

Bring them home. While they remain in Iraq they are an occupying power and will be seen by the people as invaders, whatever their intentions.

They were sent there to overthrow a dictatorship that had originally been set up with US and British support, on the pretext of weapons that didn't exist, to enforce a 'democratic' government that large numbers of Iraqi people oppose.

Every day they spend there makes the situation worse. Get them out and send in peace brokers from countries that have no interest in the situation there. They would have a better chance of sorting out the mess.

Was there in '05, going later this year most likely.
I want to see the job completed. Right now I feel that the best option for that is with troops on the ground, but it may come to a point that we need to let them have a civil war and determine what needs to be done with the winner. Support or depose.

.remove and return home 90% of the troops on voluntary basis first. pull the remaining troops (active in iraq) back far enough to be able to monitor iraq from non vilentile grounds (secured tight for precautions). troops returned home ought to be trained more effectively (no disregards to you troops, i love and am proud of you all) mentally and physically, etc. at home (us). prepare young egar ambitious brave troops like we have more dignified than all those pencil pushin' behind a desk and scared to even join a peace corp capitalism inhumane leaders of ours. then you will have soldiers proud and mighty to be a USA TROOP. you can't send young men and women out in situations that more than half of american citizen can't and never will be able to imagine. then you criticise mistakes and wrong-doings no telling what they might be incountering on a hourly even seconds decision makings on international televisions to make you look good. you are a disgrace to our founding fathers and beyound. at least act like you care.

This war has been lost for a while. "Mission Accomplished" banners aside, we can't "win" another country's civil war. It's impossible.

Bring them home and send our bombers back over and bomb that country until it stops the waring and killing of each other
