What is your opinion of NATO?

NATO is an outmoded institution, that was handy for keeping the Russkies in check. It's only reason for continued existence now is so the United States can have a say in what European Armed Forces do. It's now an American DEVICE.

Good photo. I see they are trying to 'liberate' afghanistan.

All I see there is a foreign army(nato) protecting gas/oil pipelines and an afghan army corrupt from head to toe. Then we have the increase in heroin production and the massive amount of civilian deaths in air strikes.

Nato is a joke, and should be completely disbanded. Only the US and UK make any significant contributions. There is no real alliance.

NATO is a military pact between America and Europe.

The ony people who hate it are usually from the Balkans and full of hate at each other.

To me NATO is a waste of time and money.All the countries in it except the UK and USA are wasters.It's always the UK and USA that do all the work and supply most everything that is needed.

NATO was created in response to the Warsaw pack,after the fall of the soviet union they found themselves out of a job. help! what shall we do with all our stock piled arms? all those poor arms dealers and manufactures loosing billions. we will just have to invent another boggie man to save the people from.Middle east looks good they have got oil too.

since the world in the military is becoming a more organized and uniformed department. no i do believe it is obsolete. after all we have the u.n so no we don't need it after all the cold war is over and the russian federation wouldn't dare attack a nato member or anything in europe for that matter

if you're referring to the organisation,and not the hoody demonstrating,then i'd say it's very necessary to excist,as a mutually benifical defense force,why?,don't you?

NATO helps out all of North America... think gas, food, supplies (being cheap). Drugs are just a tiny factor in it. And also, we benifit the most, and it's not like we're trading "terrorists."

What you telling us for? were just mere mortals if you do not want your cousins shot in Afghanistan tell them to stop throwing acid in little girls faces and suicide bombing even their own.Or you could try President Obama but i reckon you could be barking up the wrong tree there.Maybe give him a call after all you helped him get elected.
As a British citizen you should be proud of what NATO has achieved.
