First off, why give 6 figure contracts to big business when 50% of Iraqis are unemployed. There is a lot of cheap labor looking for work there.
Remove the soldiers from the cities and place them on the oil fields and borders near Iran. Give most of the profit back to the people of Iraq to build jobs, help the poor.
Send special forces to kill pockets of Al Quada.
Prepare for exit.
Very basic plan thought up in 2 minutes. |

Remove the embedded press coverage and have pooled new coverage instead.
Allow the Army and Marines to take off the kid gloves; shoot at a U.S. Service member and unlease the hounds of war
Disarm everybody not involved in the defense of Iraqi, none of this 1 AK per man crap.
Bring the Iraqi Army and Police forces to a secured environment to train for their mission.
Close off all access across the Iranian and Syrian borders!!! |

As long as you thing there is a solution, there will not be a solution.
We are there to protect Israel. Simple as that.
Until Isreal feels safe, we will not leave. That includes dismantilng Irans Nuclear production, which is not in the near future.
So, keep on dreaming.
Keep believing we invaded the country because of WMD's.
Keep believing we stayed in Iraq because of Terrorists.

They have to come up with a solution that works for them. All we can do is try to maintain order until they do. Pulling U.S. troops before then would be disastrous. |

duct tape the mouths of lots of politicians and let the generals do their work. Our troops are the best in all fields, fighting reconstruction and compassion are some of them. Go warriors! |

There isnt a realistic solution to Iraq that we (America) can make happen. Only the Iraqi's can and until they get thier own act togather it doesnt really matter what we do. It is thier country and until enough of them want to act like reasoable humans and be responsible. nuthin is gonna happen.
Now for the unrealistic very bad taste answer.: Fence off the place and throw in guns and bullets.
PS If you really want to take cheap shots at me via email. Go ahead. On this question I will just delete the email because you dont have a sense of humor. And yes I know there are people fighting and dying there. Spent some quality time there during Desert Storm and knowing two of my kids may be fighting over there in a few years. |

Withdraw and let them sort their country out for themselves. No one is going to "follow us back". Then we can concentrate on the real war on Bin Laden. |

Pull out and let them go back to killing each other. That's the way it has been since recorded time in that area. |

The only useful solution left thanks to president moron and company is to divid Iraq into three parts and let the parts run there own business whether there is a central govt or not isn't really relevant as that is just window dressing for the illusion of there actually being a country called Iraq. |

Just leave as soon as possible. Keep troops in neighboring allied countries to contain any over-spill. Build a highly mobile, logistics-free and very lethal small strike force to make incursions if necessary. Create a Middle East summit with neighboring stable countries to seek a permanent solution based on diplomacy, economics and global cooperation. Do not encourage or demand installation of democracy American-style.
Not one American boot on Iraqi soil.
Previous posters suggest a horrifying vision of typical American thought processes. |

Give southern Iraq to Iran. Give central Iraq to Syria. Give northern Iraq to Turkey.
problem solved. |

First, we have to get the international community involved, especially big players in the area.
We'd have to get them talking to each other and to leaders in Iraq (not just those holding political office, but, as we should have done from the start, the people that Iraqi's respect and will follow).
And tell everyone we will get out o' there ASAP. No one thinks we should be there, no one wanted us there in the first place. Admiting it was wrong would be a nice first step.
We created this problem; we are NOT the solution.
I see a lot of answers are advocating yet more slaughter, even genocide.
Oh, great.
WE destroy a country for absolutely NO FRIGGIN' REASON, then, because of our terrorist behavior, blame them.
Let's line up all the 2-year-olds and mow THEM down first. That'll learn 'em. They deserve if for all their crimes. Then take the 3-year-olds, because they must all be guilty, too.
Then let's slaughter all the great-grandmothers.
sick
There IS no easy solution; this is one of the reasons all human beings opposed the war all along. If you completely &%$# up a place, you make a big, intractable mess.
How these other answerers have made it the Iraqi's fault I truly don't get.
No wonder every human being on the planet hates us. |

Pull our troops and start with carpet bombing......all those who want to get out of the way will be processed and searched for weapons, those we feel are a threat get GPS chips, so we can track them.... |
