What kind of naval officer can I be?

I would love to become a naval officer (my dad retired after 22 years in the navy). I grew up as a "navy brat" and I liked it. I am a junior in college and I will soon graduate with a BS. My majors are Bio and Spanish. Obviously, these are not a key areas that the navy is looking for. Is there anyway I can be a naval officer? If so, what should I do? I tried to talk a recruiter and I felt that she was very condescending. She seriously asked, "so what do you want to do in the navy, be a spanish speaking biologist or what." For anyone that is wondering, the answer to that is no. I do not know what I want to do, but I think the navy is right for me. ANY input (please don't tell me to go talk to a naval recruiter) would be great. I just need to know am I eligible to be a naval officer and if so, how I should go about becoming one. Any input would be great as I obviously have NO idea what I'm talking about or where to find any information! Thanks all!

My University has a NROTC program but since I have completed over 30 credit hours, I am no longer eligible for that.

i think you should join as a enlisted and try out for officer
if you are only willing to be a officer then don't bother at all
it takes a Special person to be a officer not every one can do it

you should also look in to Other branches the army has a use for spanish speaking ppl and the core of engineers can use the skills of biologist

The Navy takes anyone coming out of a Maritime College with a 2.5 or higher because of their deck or engine officers licenses.

Anywhere else I hear "3.0 or better......"

Guess it depends on the nature of the degree or schooling you get. They still come here asking our staff to hand out information to students with the 2.5....

Is it too late to transfer to a college with a NROTC program?
I think with any degree you are eligible for officer training, but they may be a little more picky now.

You may want to consider enlisting, going into intelligence where your language skills would absolutely be valued, then putting in for OCS after a year or so.

the degrees are of no use. that doesn't mean you have NO shot at all, it just means you need to be absolutely STELLAR in all other areas. What's your GPA? anything less than a 3.5 and you have zero chance..and with Non Tech degrees you really need closer to a 3.75 or better.

what other things do you bring to the table? sports, leadership, community involvement...

If you wanted to use the Biology degree a Bachelor's is NOT enough, you'd need a Master's or better to get into the Medical Corps. the language..well one its absolutely useless, too many Native speakers and 2..Officers DO NOT use foreign language on a daily basis unless they are on Embassy duty or are a FAO( and no you cannot go straight into FAO you must laterally transfer around the O3 level)

Forget trying to be an Aviator. those candidates are a nickle a dozen there are so many. MAYBE Naval Flight Officer,they do need those, and of course there is SWO, always in short supply. Unless you have a lot of Calc and Physics you will not make the cut for Nuke.

did you speak to an OFFICER recruiter? the Navy uses separate ones for O and E.
