What compels citizens of the US to become a part of something greater than themselves? The answer is for the defense of freedom. |

There's the obvious answers like action etc, but more importantly - a structured career, you get out what you put in, and the chance to see the world. A decent pension and the honour of serving your country. |

Have you never wanted to do something larger than yourself? Women join for the same reason too. |

A sense of duty and the chance to see the world, learn a trade, give something back to the country. |

To gain a sense of purpose and discipline inside themselves. A chance to be involved and take action in making this country, your home, the greatest free nation in the world. To stand up for the principles they believe this country stands for. Also, for career advancements, training and honor. |

My world

The same thing that makes women want to join the Army. The fact that can receive on the job training, a college education, earn money, travel the world, and have some adventure. Not to mention that they are doing something honorable and patriotic.
Different people join for different reasons, but they all boil down to honor, duty, love of country, making something better for themselves and their families. I joined the Army to get out of my home town. There were no jobs, I couldn't afford college, and I wanted to see the world. I learned a good job, saw the world, got a degree, and was able to create a good life for myself and my family.
God bless them all |

The proper question should be. "Why do women join the Army."? This is a question I will never be able to answer and will never accept an answer to. |

Most want a better life, no jobs, no hope in their home town. Some want to run away from something. |

To put something back in, instead of just taking. You probably wouldn't understand. |

For a Brit, a sense of purpose, there's no greater feeling than marching into battle with your brothers by your side. To serve your country is the greatest honour any man can have. The Yanks well they just like guns. |

FOR DUTY, HONOR, AND COUNTRY!
If you want to join the army, make sure you talk to a retired army officer before talking to the recruiter. Get the advice and assistance you need before you sign. And be in the position in which the recruiter knows that you have a retired field grade officer in your corner to translate ârecruiter speakâ. www. consultingpotentialrecruits. com . |

All sorts of reason from feeling you want to serve your country to it's a good career in which you have a chance of promotion and travel round the world. You will also receive a pension at the end of it if your in it for the long haul.
It generally gives you a good grounding in life and also gives you an opportunity to learn a trade depending on what you decide to do. |

There are many reasons:
- dead end economy in a city, suburb, or rural area
- a sense of doing something for the good of the nation
- a need for direction
These are three of the reasons I heard most in the Navy, about why guys joined. Well, aside from the macho, gung-ho crap. |
