I want to be a doctor but they cant get any females into any medical careers so Im opting for logistics...he said i can change jobs after about 18 months.
1. How hard is logistics school? and are you fluent in another language when you finish?
2. is it better to join as an officer or just enlisted? how can you join as an officer?
3. is it worth going in as logistics and then changing to medicine?
4. Can you really change jobs after a certain amount of time? Additional Details i got a 77 on my ASVAB.
I said I am PRE MED. NOT A DOCTOR lol...
and I thought it was "linguistics" but someone corrected me the other day and said it is logistics.

If you really want to join as a Corpsman then wait until the rate opens. It is not always easy to cross-rate. That means change jobs. Usually you only can do that when you re-enlist and then only if they let you out of the first job.
If you have a Bachelors degree already and you went through premed you may be able to join as Medical Service Corps Officer. They are medical support officers usually for administrative purposes...but they do other things too. I put a Navy link to describe some of the officer jobs. Most have certain degree specific requirements so you have to see what they are. It is an official Navy web-page so the information is good.
There is also military medical school. It is called Uniformed Services University School of Medicine.(USU) Check out the link to see if you can qualify for that program.
I'm a former female HM and they told me the school was closed before I got it. Then they had one spot open up. If you really want it then wait on it because the wait is worth it. In my case I didn't have to wait long, in fact I had to ship out sooner like in 2 weeks notice. It can be like that sometimes. |

For Hospital Corpsman the Enlisted medical job in the Navy is limited to how many females are excepted each year in it. Currently the Rating (job) for females is overmanned so they will maybe let a few in each year. So it can not be a field to go into as it can be very difficult to get promoted. If you have a degree in Nursing then that is a Commission to be an Officer.
1) Logistics these days is Supply is has nothing necessarily to do with Langage. PS (Postal) and SK (Storekeeper) is merging to become LS (Logistics Support) within the next year. If you mean languages and that is the field then maybe it is Linguistics?
2) To be an Officer you need a Bachelors Degree, unless you get accepted into an ROTC program you will have to probably pay for it yourself. During your enlistment you can go to college but it will not be available all the time, you are limited to how much is allowed each year in the medical field it would be impossible.
3) If you only want to go into medicine then don't go into Logistics right now. THere is no guarantee that you can transfer in 18 months at all. If you want to do medical in the military then choose another branch. |

1 CTI is LINGUISTICS. it is VERY hard, total immersion. you will NOT be fluent but you will be able to read and translate the written and spoken language.
2: Officers must have a 4 year degree in hand before they can seek a commission. officers DO NOT USE foreign languages on a daily basis except in certain instances( Embassy duty for instance).
3: as a CTI you will NEVER be pemritted to cross rate out ESPECIALLY into HM.
4: only if certain criteria are met. you will never be allowed to go from an undermanned rating( CTI) to and overmanned rating( HM). Nor will you be allowed to go from an overmanned one to another overmanned one. nor can you go from an Undermanned rating into another undermanned rating easily.
as a Female you stand about a zero chance of EVER getting HM. it is completely full for females for at least another year |

He was a sub cook for a very long time.
It's very difficult to change jobs.
To sign up as an officer, get your bachelors degree and sign up. |

1. Logistics school is not hard but you defiantly will not be fluent in another language when you finish. (In the Army they told me and another female that we were joining as accountants, it actually was a fancy name for a supply clerk the title was Automated Logistical Specialist).
2. It’s best to join as an officer and you must join with a Bachelors Degree you may want to speak to several recruiters first if you have one.
3. No, I would only join to do what you want to do because usually you must complete your entire term before you change your MOS or Military Occupation Specialties.
4. This, I can’t answer because the rules have probably changed since I was in but when I served you could not change your MOS until you completed your full enlistment.
The sad thing about the military recruiters is that they are under extreme pressure to get people enlisted. Because of this pressure they pretty much give mistruths and do not provide all the information. Also, there are usually jobs that that may be short of people so they are told to push those jobs first by pretending that they are better than they actually are.
I suggest you research the job title before you take it and do not enlist unless you get exactly what you want. There are four major branches of service and this does not include the National Guard, Reserves, and Cost Guard. Look around and find one of them that will take you doing exactly what you want. Good luck! |

How can they not get females into medical jobs? That sounds sketchy and more like your test scores weren't good enough or some other reason. If you want to be a doctor you have to have a degree and go to medical school. Simple as that. You WILL be an officer with a medical degree. To get a commission you have to go through a review&selection board (kind of like the one for any college, but much harder) and they select the best applicants with preference going to enlistees trying for commissions. Medical jobs go through a seperate board that's easier because the military needs tons more medical people just like the rest of the world.
You can change jobs after 3-5 years normally.
EDIT: When you join, someone will ask you if your recruiter lied to you and you can talk to them about it. If he did lie and you find out then you have several options ranging from voluntarily quitting before you ship out to changing your job to whatever. |

Recruiters, are spazzes all they want is your signature. You can do whatever you want, considering your line scores and over all score is good on the ASVAB. |

no hes lying to you, the recruiters have to fill empty job slots for the Navy I was Air Force so I'm not sure about Navy Logistics school I know it's better to go A school than undesignated in the Navy Officers have way better pay better quarters but more responsibility when your an officer your a commander you can change jobs I believe after 3 years.you need a Bachelors degree to be an officer either through the Navy Academy or a 4 year college |
