The only ribbon you will have on your uniform upon graduation from Marine Corps Boot Camp will be the National Defense Ribbon. Once you get to your first unit you will then be eligible to wear the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. |

The correct answer is NONE. No ribbons are earned as a result of boot camp or anything you do in boot camp.
Because we are involved in these active conflicts, you rate the National Defense award upon completion of boot camp.
Other branches may give you ribbons for doing certain things, but not in the USMC.
You will graduate with a rifle badge, and a ND ribbon today, but not every past Marine gets the ND award.
You will not get a ribbon for tossing a grenade, or firing certain weapons, passing basic, or other routine things in the USMC. |

Right now since we're at war, anyone who completes boot will get the National Defense Ribbon. If we were not at war, then you don't get any for completing boot camp. If you were a prior service member who went to boot, then you are authorized to wear the ribbons you have earned in your past military career with another branch. |
