He can be instantly admired and respected if he knew our past and the fleeting glory of looking and talking great, but lacking resolve on issues of decision that have lasting affect. Send in the marines to the pirates landing, where ever they know it to be and remove their supplies and weapons. Do not apologize either and demand the release of the captain offering grave consequence to the cowards.

Neither do I. You know I was watching the Building of the Berlin Wall and how people tried to escape and how they were killed. All to give Socialism a chance. People in America do not understand what freedom is...they take it for granted and do not realize how horrible it is.

If they really looked into and researched socialism and realize in theory it looks good...but in actuality..every country that tries it fails...their economy and their people are not happy...

Americans have never had the history Europe has...they haven't struggled like they did...they don't understand what it takes to remain free and keep what they did. They don't have people running over them all the time and having to deal with what they do. To compare our government to theirs is a crime...and it is like comparing apples to oranges.

It is a shame...that today and the generations of today don't see exactly WHAT it took to get them the freedom for them to even think of socialism and what is happening now. There is no turning back now....and that is sad. What this government is doing is nothing short of treason in my opinion.

Get mad....but that is my opinion. I know what my grandparents did to get here....how happy they were to go without ANYTHING to be here with NOTHING and build their lives up and help build up this country. People just want to complain they don't have this and that and for some reason our government thinks social programs are the answer. It is not. I believe in helping those that need it...but those that can work and help themselves should do just that...even if it is like those in the past who worked two and three jobs to take care of their families. They didn't depend on government...they helped each other and did what they needed to do give them a good life. If you couldn't afford it...you did without it.

Yes our government has problems...every government does...you see all governments with opposition. But our country has given you the BEST of all of them and they just do not see it. It is useless to tell them this too...they don't care.

But someday when they dont have the freedom they have now...and government runs their lives....what are they going to do.?

It is sad ...very sad.....instead of being the power of the world like we were...we are the lap dogs of the world....

President Obama is making us look like fools. It is only a matter of time until another attack on our soil takes place due to the obvious weakness that we are showing. Obama thinks he is going to turn around and instantly make everyone like us and forgive us after years and years of hatred but what he doesn't realize is that they don't want to like us. They are just planning and waiting for the opportune moment. And when it does happen again (an event such as 9/11), he will probably just shrug it off and say something like "Well we're sorry about that, I guess we deserved it. Is there anything else we can do for you?"

Yes. Each and every president has the chance of a lifetime to lead our country. The question is, especially with such differences in opinion even on yahoo answers, what are Americans all about?

Some want to be a dominating military and lead by fear. Some don't care about any other cultures or beliefs and think theirs is the only one that should exist. Others are willing to sit with their enemies and discuss. Others are too lost and confused to know what they want to do with their own lives.

The point is, in my opinion, I think he has a great chance of doing what's ultimately good. I think Americans can be part of the better people. As Teddy Roosevely re-tooled the phrase, "speak softly and carry a big stick." I think we can do just that, especially since we should have learned that our foreign policies matter! We aren't alone in this world, and it's not as easy as right and wrong. The gray area consists of how many citizens? Millions? And each one having an opinion. And then fiscal responsibility is no longer just "american" companies because each "American" company also has factories and warehouses in many different countries.
