Run, Endurance is key. Another language would help and you better be very smart. Right now is the time to do it a lot of guys are getting through the Q. My brother is 35 he just did it (but he can do a 9.15 2 mile run at 35...a$$hole). |

The first step to wearing the Green Beret is to pass the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course (SFAS). To get into this course, you must meet some basic physical fitness requirements by scoring a minimum of 260 on the Army physical fitness test for the 17-to-21 age group. Remember, that's the minimum score.
If you're serious about applying for Special Forces, however, never settle for the minimum score in anything. Since the Green Berets are so selective and competitive, it helps to stand out in as many areas as you can. I recommend that you work toward these goals in your Army PFT:
- Complete the 2-mile run in at least 12 to 14 minutes
- 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes.
- 100 push-ups in 2 minutes.
Accomplishing these goals will bring you close to a perfect score of 300 and increase your chances of being selected for SFAS.
here's a good starter workout that may help you
Swimming:
NEVER swim alone.
- Two to three times a week, 1,000 to 2,000 meters each time.
- One day a week, try to swim wearing cammies and boots for 100 meters. Wear fins when swimming half the time as well.
Running:
- Four to five times a week, 3 to 5 miles as fast as you can.
- Twice a week, do rucksack marches carrying a 30 to 50-pound load marching 5 to 15 miles at a fast walking pace.
PT:
Every other day.
- Pull-ups, 75 to 100 repetitions (seven to 10 sets of 10 reps).
- Push-ups, 200 to 300 repetitions (10 to 15 sets of 20 reps).
- Sit-ups, 200 to 300 repetitions (five to 10 sets of 40 to 50 reps). |

Go on Military.com! They have tons of workouts designed for the special forces and tons of tips! Also, you can try Vetfriends.com. I used some workouts on military.com when I was going into the Navy. It helped me a lot! Also, talk to your recruiter, they should have some type of plan! |

First get through basic training
u don't have to be an 11b but they are trained harder then most other mos's.
-run run run run you need to be able to run fast and for long distances
-start ruck marching with 40lb ruck sack, then 50 , then 60
and you need to take care of your feet you should be able to ruck 15 miles fast( i am sure a special forces nco or officer will come on here and answer your questions more throughly) but here is a head start.
-get in the right mind set, specail forces is about strengh , and physical a bility but you need to have brains
-can you do pull ups?
-practice these!
-know basic math and english, learn basic orienteering and how to read maps .
-do u know how to swim?
make sure you can swim!
-study team building and problem solving (these guys depend on eachother)
These men are amoung the finest i know a guy in my unit a (Specialist ) who is in shape as you can get went through selection did amazing we thought he was a shoe in but his test scores were low so they passed him over.
google army special forces seletion they are always looking for new recruits and they have a pamphlet on how to prepare for selection.
Good luck |

I'd say run a lot, do push ups, sit ups. Put on a heavy back pack and ruck it up and down hills. |

Get you general fitness up, get you resting heart rate to 60 or below, you need to be able to confidently compete with a full time athlete (thats gonna be the sort of fitness of the other people trying out) get into hill walking
SF selection is around 50% physical fitness 50% mental fitness |

I would advise u to be an infantryman, and get some experience first. Because army SF school has a 90% washout rate, and only 1% of new recruits fress out of boot make it. And if u dont make it you will end up a infantryman any way. So if you'll want to do allot of cardio and muscle endurence training. Good luck to you sir |

Go to Military.com and check the fitness section. It is written by a guy named Stew Smith, an ex Navy Seal. He knows what he is talking about and does have a few different programs to follow. He also has a web site and sells work out plans.
Good Luck. |

First, you have to enlist. You cannot just join the Special Forces.
After you enlist, you have to be the best at just about everything. |

1. Get your terminology right for a start. You cannot be a MARINES you can be a Royal Marine.
2. The Royal Marines and some specialised army and navy units are trained as Green berets. They are the Commandos.
The army units are Engineers and Artillery. The Navy ones are Medics and educators, as well as some pilots and air crew. |
