What should my running schedule be to prepare for Army BCT?

You will sell yourself short if you only prepare for the 2 mile run. Don't know about these days because I'm not involved in the training aspect of BCT, but when I went through OSUT we ran anywhere from 3 miles to 5 miles and beyond that. So if you only prepare for your PT test, you will fail at the long distance stuff. My unit likes to do distance one day, and sprints another, and alternate throughout the week. If you have a track, sprint one lap, jog the next lap. If you are on a road, Sprint the distance of two power poles and jog the distance of four. As far as distance, if you ran 3 miles on Monday, run 4 miles on Wednesday.

You want to start running long distance, such as 5 miles. Over time, as you get closer to BCT, you want to start running shorter distances (with greater speed) until you get down to 2 miles.

run 3 miles, not 2...3-5 times per week, have fun and good luck.

yes, i know the army runs 2 mile courses...but if you are prepared for 3 miles you will do better.

The last run of erevy week, do interval training: run 1/8 mile or 1 minute at a full sprint, then run 1/8 mile or 1 minute at a slower pace, repeat until the run is over. If you are already running more then 3 miles per week, start the program with the week that best matches the number of miles per week you are already running. For instance if you are running 4 miles twice per week, start with week 5. If you don't have enough time to do the whole program, dont worry. Just get as far as you can.

In Army BCT you are required to run the 2 mile course for a set time according to your age and gender for the Army Physical Fitness Test. Running longer distances in preparation for BCT would be very beneficial for you. I would recommend on running at least 2 times a day now before you leave, and running over 2 miles each time. This will prepare you in a way that when it is time to take your PT test, the 2 miles should be no problem.
