Military time uses a full 24 hour time system which generally eliminates any confusion in a.m or p.m. We are more familiar with a 12 hour time system.
Your example shows 22 hours:23minutes:and 54 seconds.
To determine military time in familiar civilian time, subtract 12 from any time greater than 12:00.
So for your example, you would figure 22:23:54 - 12 = 10:23:54
Any time before 12:00 p.m., as in 07:00 or 10:34, is considered a.m.
So again your example would be 22:23:54 - 12 = 10:23:54 p.m. because anything greater than 12:00 will be p.m.
Military time begins with 00:00:00 and ends with 23:59:59
People occasionally encounter time written in a format that appears to use minutes larger than 59 (for example 7:82 or 7.82). Time written in this manner is being expressed in decimal hours (hours and hundredths of hours), not military time.

You pretty much just subtract 12:00 to get the time that is used for Civilian use. so that time would be 10:23 PM. Any thing before 12 is AM anything after 12, such as 23, is PM. So to answer your question it was 10:23 |

If the Military time is less than 12:00:00
(like 10:15:15)
the time is 10:15:15 AM
If the Military time is greater than 12:00:00
(like 22:23:54)
Subtract 12:00:00 from the Military time
10:23:54 PM
Military time starts at 00 Midnight and keeps acumulating till it is 23.
The minutes and seconds don't change from military to civilian time.
Any time prior to 12:00:00 is AM civilian time.
At or past 12:00:00 military time is PM civilian time. |

Time zone isnt really an issue, b/c that is on military time/ 24 hr clock, so what you do is you continue counting from 12. instead of stopping and going back to 1, you go 13, 14, 15 ect. ect. so to figure out what the time is just add that many hours on the standard 12 hour clock. so if its 10pm you add 10 hrs to 12 and you have you time. not as confusing as it sounds |

subtract 12 hours from the military time and you will get the conventional time.

10:23 P.M. + 54 seconds. In military time, they don't use A.M. or P.M. because instead of counting every number twice, A.M. or P.M., they count every single number..so 0100 to 1200 would be the exact same as reg time (1 A.M. to 12 P.M.). After 1200 they keep counting instead of starting over so..
1300=1:00 P.M.
1400=2:00 P.M......Down to 2400=12:00 A.M.
Does that help?? I hate military time..I still count it on my fingers.. |

An easy way to tell Military time is to subtract 2 from the hour.
In example:
22:23
-2
--------
20:23
therefore it's 10:23
16 -2 = 14, thus 4o'clock. See where I'm going with this? |
