Keep doing what you're doing our military service men & women deserves our utmost respect. Seems you were brought up well. My wish is that your friends were of the same mold. |

It might seem weird if they don't know why you're saying it. I might add the standard phrase, and make it "Thank you for your service." |

Simple courtesy will do fine. |

depends ont he person. most of the guys i served with prefer to be left alone if we have to travel in uniform. if you make eye contact or something just say "good afternoon" or whatever...otherwise silence is golden (especially in airports) |

yes that is very nice of you and right and proper. so let your friends go hang. |

I think it is a good practice. Do whatever you feel you want to do. Do not listen to your friends. |

It's cool to say that.
But it might just be me, I avoided walking around in uniform whenever I could because it made me feel weird to have people say "thank you!" and "i'm proud of you!"
I guess it's all interpreted by who you say it to. Personally, when I walk past someone in uniform, I say what I say to anyone else. "Hi." "How're you!" "Good afternoon." |

gratefulness goes a long way |

Just do whatever makes you happy.
I wouldn't be saying thank you to them in your situation. You're gonna get tired of saying it.
There is no right or wrong thing to do. It's up to you. |

Just because you are being more thoughtful about what others are doing to sacrifice their lives for you does not make you at all wierd. People tend to not to want to stand out as different, but sometimes, the people who "take the road less traveled by..." THAT "has made all the difference" (Robert Frost poem--The Road Less Travelled).
I think this world needs more people like you. I'm sure the military appreciates your nice words. A lot of soldiers come back and don't even get a welcoming handshake and are left to adjust on their own. You kind words are making their struggles in life a little more easy to bear, I think. |

Not at all, Thank them for their service to the nation!
They will be grateful!

No not weird....Military men and women deserve the Thank you's...it wouldn't be weird to your friend if your friend had a clue of all they do for this country.
Yes, Thank you's are always welcomed and appreciated....I know, my husband is in the military. |

No I actually like what you have been doing. It is nice to see that someone notice the people in uniform during war or even peace time. I salute you as a former navy personnel. |
