What type of discharge would I get if I do not pass the CDCs?

I have to take the CDCs, but i am afraid that the imminent will happen: I will fail it. The reason: my heart is just not into it. I will admit that I read the stuff, but nothing stays. i do not feel motivated since I know that the info in those books will be useless to me in a future; it is not like reading college stuff where ultimately you will get a degree.

Depending on your branch and situations therein, you might not get discharged at all. You might just get mandatory retrained to Security Forces, Infantry, Truck Driver, etc.

To be honest, your CDCs DO count as a certification in the civilian world, meaning if this is a job you'd like to continue in eventually they ARE going to matter when you get out. Further, there's a lot of additional training and certification available beyond the CDC level which would carry over into the civilian world...
