What types of weapons do our troops in Iraq use?

Some Special Forces blend in with Iraqi secruity forces they use Russian Types AK-47's, AK-74's, and Chinese made modifeid AK-47 type 0.

Infantry uses mainly modified M-16, and M4A1's mofied of course. Pistol's come in varitey from Desert Eagle, USP's, Glocks.
Grenades come from American made or chinese made HE-4, and rocket launcher AT-4, or the grenade launcher.

Depends on the unit, and what weapons that unit's armorer carries--and that's determined by the type of unit it is. M16's (M16A2's and M16A4's), and M4's, are the primary weapon of any enlisted soldier in the Army. Officers and some higher-ranking NCO's, like First Sergeants and Sergeants Major, carry M9 pistols. It's just as well, because with one or two exceptions, every officer I've seen attempt to fire an M16 or M4 can't shoot those thing to save their lives--guess that's what the enlisted are for.

Most units also carry crew-served weapons, like M2 machine guns, M249 Squad Automatic Weapons, MK-19 grenade launchers, and some still have M60's and M240B's. M203 grenade launchers are fairly common, mounted on some of the M16's and M4's. You'll also still occasionally see M14's here and there, although rarely. Some units also carry AT weapons, mines, frag grenades and smoke grenades along on operations, if they have them. Armored combat units will have a wide array of mobile weapons--Abrams tanks, Bradley infrantry fighting vehicles, Strykers, MLRS, self-propelled artillery like the Paladin or towed/carried artillery. Like I said... it all depends on the unit, and also sometimes the mission they're on.

Army is now using the M-4 carbine as their main assault rifle, the grenadier will have the M203 grenade launcher rigged underneath the barrel of the rifle. They also use either the M249 or the M240 machine gun as their squad automatic weapon. The Marine Corps uses the M16A4 as their main assault rifle. As for the heavier stuff, we are using the M-2 .50 cal. "Ma Deuce" machine gun, occasionally the M-60, the Mark 19 automatic grenade launcher, SMAW, AT4, and Javelin rocket launchers. This is all for the infantry mind you. Special forces use a wide variety of weapons both used by the enemy and those not even issued to regular troops.

Ok I am a Unit armor and I have served two tours in Iraq and the only weapons I see individuals carry are the M9 9mm,the M11 SIG P228 9mm, The M16A2-A3 some M16A4 (I have One of Three in my unit), the M4A1-A2. Some designated marksman have M14 that have been accurized. some of the snipers in the army use the M24 and M109 .50cal. and SF uses the H&K USP. I have yet to se any one ,Special forces included carry use or otherwise have a Glock, Desert Eagle or any other weapon that is not a standard issue
