Fight for your country. Honor those who have gone before you to protect the freedom you now enjoy.
The military can offer you so many things, but the biggest incentive goes beyond any job offer, any specialized training you receive for free. Joining the military is a sign of a deep devotion to your country. A sign that you are willing to lay it all down, even your life, to support the country that has given you and so many others so much freedom. |

The Marines has both pros and cons. Just make sure you chose a job that you will enjoy, and if you plan on getting out after four years, a job that pays well in the civillian world would be a plus to get. If you get something you are not happy with you wont be happy and its very hard to switch MOS's.
As far as a good reason. Being part of the very best military branch is a awesome experience. |

just saying its better than the rest wont explain so much and is up for argument by every one else. simply put their boot camp is twice as long as the army ( 3 months ) and thats more time to train giving you more survivability , more discipline , its gonna be harder but what you put in is what you get out of it |

If i could i would but im a single mom and i would have to sign over my rights to someone to take care of my child other than that i would do it to protect the citizens of our country, other countries have no right to bomb our country and get away with it If men and women didn't go fight then we wouldn't be safe as citizens in a free country. |

First, you really dont join any Armed Forces for anyone but yourself. Maybe its your duty to your country that calls you to sign up or something else but the final decision is your own. Military life is alot different from civilian life. Basic Training is designed to make you stop thinking and acting as a civilian but as a soldier. It also is to strengthen your body. To make you a better well rounded person. This helps you greatly in your civilian life also. But you should only join to better yourself and serve your country. |

If you are considering the Marine Corps seriously you are already headed in the right direction. First there is nothing easy about it. To be a Marine means you want to be the best at everything. You have to have that drive before you get to Boot Camp. The best reason to join is because you feel the need to serve our great country. Thats why I joined, that desicion has caused my wife and I some heartache but I know what I am doing is for the greater good. All the other reason should really be secondary to that one. If you think the other reasons (resume, pride, bragging rights) are more important, the Marine Corps is not for you. |

It can't be a reason that someone else gives you. It has to come from yourself. My brother is a Marine and when he joined, it was after some serious thinking, dicussing it with mom and dad. Some say they feel it is their duty to their country, others want the experience that it gives them. It is truly up to an individual. There is a lot of work that goes into being a Marine, and it is not easy. Best wishes to you in what ever you choose to do! |

If there has to be a reason, then you're not one of the few and the proud. If you have to ask, then maybe you need to go into the Army, Navy or Air Force. Being a Marine is something that is in your heart and soul but if you need a reason then how about you doing it for your family or the country. There are many different jobs to do that you wouldn't have to fight but after you get started, you might just want to go fight, it's the energy of the Marines. |

There are a million reasons. The real question is..... is it in you? If the answer is not yes, don't bother. |

Because you want to be the first kid on your block with a confirmed kill...to go to exotic places, meet exotic people, and kill them...So you can say to everyone you meet, "I was a Marine" when they ask what you have done with your life while you are lying in the gutter drunk and missing an arm and a leg...
The only good reason to join the military (and I mean any branch of the military) is because you want to. There are always other ways to get what you want. |
