What would be the penalty if you lied about your medical history when joining the armed forces?

Its pretty simple you are a either a "defect on enlistment" or "false attestation" which basically means you lied when you took your oath of allegiance. IF you manage somehow to circumvent the system and get in, which would be quite an achievement (sometimes it does happen) then they can discharge you and you ahve no right to any pension etc because YOU lied!"

If your under appplication process and they find out then its what we call a bar to entry and then you will be able to aple again in 4years, but its on record so you will prob get turned down, if your currently in service and they find out they will discharge you (disonarable). A friend of mine who i worked with at RAF cranwell was in the forces for 11 years, he lied about a nut allergy and his officer in charge found out, he was kicked out of the air force. bets be honest, most illness have a time limit, e.g i joined up with ADHD, they still let me in because i was of meds for 4 years, and now i am they youngest serving sergeant in british forces, at 18.

Why do you think the Army wouldn't want you to lie? Let me tell you... because if you have an undisclosed medical condition you could be deployable and if you are in theatre and you become ill, someone would have to take care of you. My husband has enough to do taking care of the physically fit on Ops thanks.

They would 100% find out as all of your medical records would be checked out. You would then be told "BYE, Never come back"

All armed forces expect integrity as one of the main attributes that you should have. Lying does not demonstrate integrity, your application will be dropped and thrown in the bin or if you make it through selection somehow you will kicked out.

The above answers must be American because that is ceratinly not how we do things here. Someone from our armed forces will answer your question later, they pretty much always do. One of them was an ex-recruiter.

I dunno about Great Britain, but in the US you can get dishonoroble discharge or even jail time... Definately no VA benefits.

Depends when they found out. If they find out when you are undergoing your medical you will probably be asked to leave and come back within how ever many years once they are happy the medical condition won't affect you.

No penalty if you got away with it at the outset then they would very quietly ask you to resign if you were found out later .

idk I'm pretty sure that lying to the military would result in some jail time. Prolly even a felony cuz you're lying to the government

i recentlyjoined the army and my rrecruiterjust told me to lie because its to much paperwork. i dont think its a big deal i lied to so i think we are fine
