Pro: you get warm bodies. Con: you don't need warm bodies; you need smart people who can use and maintain complex weapons systems, and you can't get these by scraping people off the street for a two year hitch. |

you guys are gonna send me all kinds of hate mail on this i know.
im in recruiting right now ... the only advantage i can think of is would make my job soooo much easier cause yal would be lined up down the road to get the job you wanted before the army decided for you. then i could go back to the real army where things make sense.
ok ok start the hate |

The only pro would be the little spoiled rotten youth would get a taste of what it takes to give their spoiled rotten butts the freedoms and the advantages they have enjoyed all these years. the cons would be the challenge of getting all these fat asss little brats in shape. |

I'll just give some cons from my point of view.
Most of my pros are a little too questionable.
Cons: Too many jack-asses out there that dont belong in the service. Plenty of people that dont need to be given weapons or training in how to hurt others.
I dont want to have the man in a foxhole with me not want to be there. That will just make me not trust him.
Liberals would march/protest/blah blah blah. Because they love sticking thier noses in other peoples business. |

I don't know about cons, but the pro's would have to be, getting kid's off the streets & learning something useful that would come in handy in later life, learn a trade, learn RESPECT ( that's always good) |

One major por for me would be more man power meaning shorter stays in iraq for soliders which i would be all for considering my husband has been 3 times 1st time 7 months 2nd time 12 month currently working on a 15 month tour.
Con's many people don't want to be military meaning there would be good soliders ricking their lives depending on someone to bcak them up who could care less becuase they were drafted.
Not all people are cut out mentally, emotionally, and physically to serve in military. |

I believe in the Free Market if the Military can not make recruiting requirements we should increase compensation just like every other employer. |

pro- you will have more troops con- you will have unloyal people who won't be worth anything when you really need them, but biggest con is you will no longer have the moral of all volunteers who want to be there to defend their country even if it means death. volunteers always know when they sign up that they could die but they do it anyway they are great americans and everyone should show them a great amount of respect and thanks. |

I can't think of any pros. I know my husband would NEVER want to serve with someone who didn't voluntarily want to serve. That person is a liabilty and could be a danger to other servicemembers. |

A drop in video game sales? Not very likely the draft will be used. The volunteer service is doing very well. |

I'm all for the draft.we have kids that are totally lost in their pursuit of life.no ******** clue, just drifting after high school.the military would be a blessing for them and the country.we need a warrior society badly, lots of shi*t coming down the pike. |

pros: enlist loads of people very quickly
it could make thugs turn good
not very expensive
cons: people are forced they freedom is lost
people enlisted only get limited traning
families and friends could get hurt if someone they love is killed or hurt
it could cause people to create a uprising |

personally i would like to see it come back but it will not be good. the pros is can get a education from them but war wise no people may mot be ready |

This is like an essay question!!! I could write PAGES to answer this....
But when it comes down to it, I think the draft is a FANTASTIC idea!!!
Our country is spoiled.... I would LOVE to see all these idiots that bash the government / war / authority / America-in-general go learn some respect and real pride... see what freedom costs... earn the right to say the stupid crap that comes out of their mouths!!! ;)
That will be the day!
Of course, I would hate to serve next to them while they get themselves together....
Go Army!! :) |

There are no pros. Look what happened in Vietnam. You had drafted a lot of people into a war that America did not support and look what happened. We got handed to. You do the same thing in a war against the same type of enemy (gorilla type warfare with extensive knowledge about the war zone) and you are going to get a lot of Americans slaughtered. On top of that, you are going to have a bunch of people that don't want to be there and will do anything to get out and will wind up ruining the rest of their lives because they got such terrible discharges from a non-volunteer military. |

Pros: You would force all the kids from the rich elite to defend their country side by side with the common guys. Once they're there, they will be just as loyal & patriotic as the next guy...they were in nam.
Cons: They'd lose their right to choose...but did they ever really have it? |
|

It was instituted during Nam. It can happen again. Pros alot of folks made it out alive. Cons alot of folks didn't somewhere close to 60,000 died in Nam. |
