What would be the steps to join rotc marines/navy?

I am currently finishing sophomore yr in college and play varsity soccer. would it be possible for me to now join an rotc program and start the enlistment program?
I was also wondering what the general process is once one becomes, let's say, a marine. i know it takes 4 yrs of rotc training, but then what? serve for a couple years then become a regular civilian unless i choose to re-enlist? im a finance major, and looking to be something like an investment banker, doesnt exactly seem like it'd fit with the military... options? thoughts? -thanks

Once you are in junior standing (with credits) then it will be next to impossible to join the NROTC program. If you are finishing up your sophomore year then you'll have a tough time, because that's usually the instructors' "evaluation" period. The reason is because they want you to graduate in four years, or at least within the 4-year and 2-year scholarship time slots. If you're in a varsity sport (a huge plus, but something you'll probably have to give up) I would HIGHLY recommend talking to an NROTC advisor.

let's say, a marine. i know it takes 4 yrs of rotc training, but then what?
Like alluded to above, it's not necessarily a 4 year pipeline. I graduated school in 4 years, but did 3 years in NROTC. I got a 2-year scholarship.
To become a marine, you will have to participate in extra marine activities, with A LOT of PT. Those exercises may be different from what you're used to. You will also be exempt from most of the technical requirements/classes of your sailor buddies. The fundamental difference between Marine and Navy is OCS during your junior/senior summer. If you graduate from Officer's Candidate School, you're (almost) officially a Marine!

serve for a couple years then become a regular civilian unless i choose to re-enlist?
After you graduate as a Marine you attend The Basic School (TBS) which EVERY marine officer attends. Your service obligation depends on your job. It can be anywhere from 4-8 years after that. On Navy, you can go straight to the fleet as a surface officer, or on the flip side you can attend two years of flight school to become a pilot. For officers, you can sign another contract, usually with a fat bonus, which will extend your contract, or you can continue to serve "at the pleasure of the President" which means you can resign (almost) anytime.

im a finance major, and looking to be something like an investment banker, doesnt exactly seem like it'd fit with the military... options? thoughts?
There's a saying that I picked up/read/heard/saw from some veterans that "it's easier to train a leader in technical skills than it is to train a specialist in how to lead people." As officers you'll be trained to pick up a soup sandwich and make it look at least presentable. It's up to you, we take all majors. But you definitely won't learn about investing in the military, we're a government organization. We look good by the size of our budgets. Robert Kiyosaki a rich investor was actually a Marine pilot. Look up his books.

you dont really have to do 4 yrs of ROTC. you can get a degree first, then go to officer school. once your commissioned you serve atleast 4 yrs active duty unless you join reserves. after you do your time you get out and enter inactive reserves for another 4 yrs., where they can call you back for war if needed.

I don't know about the NROTC but at my school we have accepted people at the end of their sophomore or beginning of junior year (usually the end of sophomore year though). Also I know that in the Army ROTC you could branch into the Finance Corps after graduation if you didn't want another branch like infantry or Corps of Engineers. Hope this helps, feel free to message me if you want more info.
