Whats a good major while in the US Army??????

I want to join the Army as an Enlisted 11B (Infantryman) but eventually would like to be an officer because when I retire I want to retire with an Officers pension not an Enlisted pension. What is a 4 year major that I could finish in say....10 or 12 years (or less if possible)? I will be Active Duty. I would like to be an Officer. I need a major that I could take classes for just about anywhere (with the exception of while deployed).

Also how hard will it be to get into OCS when I am qualified?

Just get an associates degree and Apply for ROTC green to gold.

They have a plan now where you get active duty pay to go to college for 2 years to finish your 4 year degree and the time counts for retirement!

10 or 12 years? At least you're realistic but I don't know.

OCS? You do realize that about 90% of the armed forces get their officers directly from ROTC or civilians (OCS)?

Very few enlisted are bumped up and it's not like they don't get their degrees.

i dont know how you would be able to get into OCS. my LT was enlisted first and he said it was hard to do so you might want to look into it as soon as you can. as for majors...... since your going to be taking online classes most likely then maybe you should pick english or math or history. something like that you should be able to do completely online. and the standards for grauating with those majors shouldnt change from school to school like some do.

you can get a wide variety of degrees online these days. There is no real set time for how long it takes to get an online degree on Active Duty (I'm taking the same route as you but with 19d (If i don't get into the Rangers).

It really depends on how hard you work on getting the degree and how often you get deployed.
