Whats better the Marines or The Army?

In war time the Marines are the best, they are trained better and better prepared. In war time you are promoted better and faster in the Marines.

You are also first to fight and last to flight....

Why do u think that the President of the United States can send them anywhere in the world without congressional authority?

All military division are unique in their own ways. Each having their strenghts and weaknesses (USA has none). If you are planning on having a career in the military, I suggest Army because it can help you maintain a job and work for the Government with good pay and health benefits. If you don't want a career in military, but want to actually see some combat, I suggest the Marines because the Marines see most of the combat.

No one is better than the other. Both of them are composed of brave and patriotic Americans who I personally consider to be real heroes.

OMFG! the Marines are freakin hardcore. its awsome i go to bootcamp aug. 13, and graduate nov. 9 the day before the Corps birthday. God I love the Marine Corps.

As an ex Army officer, I have to give credit where it is due.

The Marines have nicer dress uniforms.

One of my favorite questions of all time, and as many have already stated depends who you ask.

My opinion: We have the greatest Army in the world and the greatest Marine Corps in the World. We fight the same fight and at the end of the day we are all Americans.

Thank you to all who served before me, those who serve now and those getting ready to join. A special thank you to the many faithful, tough, wives out there who take care of home while "he" is away. Keep your heads up ladies!

Not sure if this is right or not but supposedly they occasionally have like try-out where 2 out of 100 people will qualify to be a marine when they take the test and the test is supposedly extremely hard to pass. They like bind you up in ropes and have you do all these swimming things and many people have died.

im not sure how much of this is true -- but I believe the marines is a greater honor.

As history will attest, the Marines always go in first. The tradition of the Marine Corps far out weighs the Army.

But overall the Marine corps wins!!! College $ Army, easier life Army, overall which is better Marines!!!! You can stack up all the things about the Army that is better than the Marine Corps but after you add all of that up the Corps still wins!

Both branches respectfully do the same function sometimes working together. The Marines and The Army are both full of pride for there country and there very proud so none of them are any better than the other. Semper Fi ladies/gentleman...Army Strong ladies/gentleman

You can get better jobs in the Army that will help you in life after your service. Marine Corps, well, they have the nicest uniforms :) Semper Fidelis Either way, make sure yet the Montgomery GI Bill. I graduate in December and have not paid a dime of my own money for college. The best deal.

Ok, as a former Marine myself I gotta say SEMPER FI!!!! However, all branches do their part. Historically you can be in the army, navy, air force or coast guards, but you can BE A MARINE. a single person can't be an army, navy, air force or coast guard.

It all depends upon what you want to do and what you are looking to get out of your military service.

When I was looking to join the military a friend of my who had been in the Marines asked me what service I was going to join and I told him that I was probably going to join the Army.

He said "Don't join the Army!"

I said "Well what should I join then? The Marines like you did?"

He said "No! Join the Air Force. You get the best meals, the best barracks, top schooling, and instead of marching everywhere you hop on a plane and fly."

So I took his advice and joined the Air Force and am glad that I did.

But if you are looking to get in great shape and be taught how to fight then while the Army does those things too, the Marines have a better reputation for producing "tough guys".

As I am in the Army and my Brother is a Marine we would both argue for our branches but at this time of war we both kick ***. We both do the same jobs and going to school for my job with marines in the same field we are all basically human and love the same things. To me marines seem more disciplined but I believe that makes them stressed out more. But being a smaller size it seems the Marines get alot more stuff done. But I guess you can when your deployments are only 6 months when ours are 15 month rotations. I don't like to tear branches apart because just like when we fight with our allied British and other Countries here I love the help. I love the help of the marines and our US military does good kicking the insurgent *** over here everyday.

Depends..combat..usmc comes first than the army..privileges..army comes first..honor..both.. both of them are doing their duties & putting their lives for the sake of others..

this is for the first answer from "A" saying the military messes up people and families. even with your complaining soldiers still fight for your right to say that. they fight for you to wear your anti-war(don't support the troops) shirt.

I'm not really going to get into this, who is better crap but I do have a question. Where does all this "Marines go in first" stuff come from. The greatest invasion of any land mass ever was D-Day. Not a Marine on that beach, or jumping from planes over France. There were more Soldiers in the Pacific fighting than Marines. You have to remember this, the Army is HUGE! The esprit de corps the Marines are so well known for is largely in part to thier much smaller size. I won't deny that the Marines have a great tradition but it is like comparing apples to oranges. About 100 years ago they were considering doing away with the Marine Corp. Why? Because they didn't see the need for having two forces with pratically the same mission. Thus the Marines developed into shipborne infantry. Amphibious assault experts. Marines win battles, the Army wins wars. As far as quality of life goes, I can't comment on that, I was never a Marine and know little about how they live. However I can say that being in a combat arms unit in the Army as opposed to being in a support unit....like night and day.

I would have to say the marines. They are usually the first ones sent into battle plus they have more intense training than the army. The basic training alone for marines is 13 weeks, not to mention the months of schooling after basic training. Yes, I am avery proud parent of a U.S. Marine.

The Army is the only service that guarantees your job prior to shipping to Basic. Also they will not change your job while in basic or school (unless you fail, then you get a list of other jobs).

The Army has more jobs than any other service.

Also the Marines get trained by Army for Air Assault and Airborne.

But, I am biased, as i am an Army recruiter.

I am not a military fan but I was looking at some photos of a military pinup woman the other night... and she was posing with all the different types of fighting men.

To be honest, the Aviators and the Marines were the most elegant and just looked a lot classier. I know that is not the type of answer you need... but it seems the Marines are a bit more creme de la creme.

I would say the one with the highest standards is the one to go for if you want the best. No matter, they are all tough people doing a dirty job and deserve respect and thanks for their sacrifices... as do those who support them on the home front... and we ain;t talking about the government, we talk of families.

Go with the Navy or Air Force. It is recommended by my brother-in-law who was in the Navy for over 20 years and retired at age 43. Marines and the Army are more likely to get into a combat war than Navy and AF do. Navy and AF give good health benefits and paychecks. My son is in his 2nd year AF ROTC and just got a full college scholarship. He is a college sophomore. He is really looking forward to join AF after he graduates from college. AF pays good and offers a great job opportunity. If you want to go to a college, join ROTC and commit making good grades. Talk with your families first and see what you decide. It's your own personal decision. My husband and I never forced our kids to do things that they don't want to...you know like sports for examples. Well, my son is 19 years old and makes his own decision. It is his future. We are really proud of his decision. Of course, we the parents like everyone else always worry about our kids. This is normal. So good luck with your future!
