When I enlist in the Air Force I have two career fields in mind, one being ATC (air traffic control) and the other, Command post. Whats the difference between ATC and Command Post? (in the Air Force)
& Pros and Cons please?

Air Traffic Control in the Air Force is very similar to Air Traffic Control in the civilian sector.
Command Post has some related duties but more so. . . you monitor ground and air emergencies, etc. And the etc can be a pretty big deal. Several years ago, Khobar towers was bombed (google for more detail)...my friends squadron had got there two days prior. As soon as I saw it on CNN, I called command post to find out if my friend was alive or dead. They had a list and confirmed that my friend was alive and well. So even if things are relatively calm at your base, there's things going on in the world that you may have to react to.
ATC is very stressful but pays very well on the outside. Command post...well it depends on what you want to do next. |

ATC controls aircraft flying, they work in the control tower, using radars to keep aircraft on different altitudes, etc.
Command post is a paper pushing job, inside the base command post.
You do things like track aircraft maintence cycles, aircraft availability, etc. Your basicly a clerk ( ie: secretary ) |

Air traffic control you are responsible for all aircraft entering and leaving your airspace... This means you have either a really stressful job or a relatively easy one. Depending on where you are.
Command post is sort of a super responsible secretary. You do lots of paperwork and organization stuff. |
