Whats the difference between the army and marines? please no "omg marines are better" or "army would pwn them"?

Lot of Marine Biased Opinions here.

First of all the Marines have a different mission, they are amphibious capable and actually a part of the Navy. Overall their combat training is a little harder than the Army, but that only really matters for the Infantry. Pog Marines are just like Pog Army. Dont have a ****** clue.

Army is over twice the size of the Marine Corps so their is more job opportunites. Also the Army has a larger budget than the Marines so we have some cooler toys than they do. In Iraq the Army went in ahead of and with the USMC. Army Deployments are 12 mos instead of the 6-7mos the Marines deploy for.

Both have the same educational benefits and pay. Upside to the Army is you have available more mos schools like Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger etc. Marines have the distinction of calling themselves Marines, and if you want to go to sea you can do that as well.

My uncle spent 4 years in the marines, then he switched over to the army as a 11b Infantryman. He said marine boot camp was a Little bit more about discipline, but real weapons training is held at Fort Benning ~Home of the Infantry~ He wasn't 0300 series Infantryman for the corps, but every marine receives combat training at the end of boot camp. He said Army Fort Benning ~Home of the Infantry~ is where real weapons training is held, maybe if he would have went Infantry in the corps it be different, i dunno. His exact words were : Real combat weapons training is held at Fort Benning ~Home of the Infantry~

It's a hard question to ask. You need to find some Marine and Army officers and talk to them. All you are gonna get on here is "I'm a Marine and i do what i'm told" or "Army is easy"
The truth is that I can tell you about the Infantry side of the Army but not the non-Infantry side. I can't tell you about the Marines, just like a Marine can't tell you about the Army. Marines are a proud group though. Army are 2 groups that hate each other. POGs and Grunts.

The first is an occupational force and the later an Assault force. Choose the Army, if you have to ask the Marines don't need you!

army is a occupational force. Marines are an assault and invasion force. If you want to see lots of battle, be the first ones to the battle, and be the last ones to leave the battle, go marines. If you want a college education, and dont want to get your hands dirty, go army.

The Marines are primarily a seaborne landing force, as they were used in the Pacific war.

There are many Marines permanently stationed on Navy ships. Carriers have a Detachment on board; how many I don't know.

Army is strictly land.

Now, the Marines are weapons of war. They are the absolute best fighting force in the history of mankind. Marines win wars and the Army plays with expensive weaponry that they cannot handle properly.
