Military members pay taxes too! why don't you go thanks your teachers, and the police, and solial services, and your elected officials, and public works department, and state park rangers,......... |

Why don't you walk up to a cop & tell him how you pay his salary? I'm sure he'll come up with a unique way to thank you. |

i hope you stop me on the street and tell me i should thank you for you not being in the military, i'll thank you by laying you out. |

Yeah military members "thank" the citizens who pay taxes for their pay check by defending our great country. Besides the fact that as many have said before me they too pay taxes. |

I love your take on the subject, but we all pay taxes.
Yes, even though the military gets paid with tax payer dollars they tax it again out of our pays, amazing isn't it. You might think someone was being secretive about some corruption or something huh?
Because not only due we pay taxes, but we also serve - the non military citizen still needs to show some form of gratitude to those of us serving. |

There is a cadence in the army and part of it goes like, "in the army they say the pay is mighty fine, they give you a hundred dollars and TAKE BACK (ie taxes) ninety-nine." Enough said. |

Wouldn't that keep them really busy? How is one to identify veterans on the street? |

Yes I always stop people on the street and thank them for paying taxes so I can receive a paycheck that allows me to provide for my family and possibly die in the service of my country.
Are you feeling a little small?
BTW, most of us will reply upon being thanked for our service that it is our privilege and honor to serve our country. |

Yes, because they are annoying freeloaders who really don't do anything but risk their lives on a regular basis to keep ungrateful liberals like you safe. |

Doesn't the originator of this question add, "so that I can be in the military?" |

Veterans have probably worked and paid taxes and if not, they've had a family member do so. Besides, they're the ones who had the guts to go out and fight for their country. And military pay isn't very impressive. Let's see you go out and do what they do. |

Oh man, I can't wait to see the answers to this question. What an a**hole you are. Why don't you get up off your lazy ***, volunteer, go risk your life, work 12 hours a day or more 7 days a week while deployed, and see your friends die, for what is basically chump change. Military members pay taxes too...so with your logic, they're basically working for free! |

It would be really nice if people like you would all move to Afghanistan, live without food and water for awhile, and then be kidnapped by extremists. Then you might learn to be thankful for all the people who make sacrifices so that you can sit in a house with running water and internet and post idiotic things on yahoo. |

That's pretty stupid. If politicians, teachers, cops etc. don't do so, why should the military? |
