Kill yourself? What are you talking about? You need to stop talking about it and forget about it. Move on from that time in your past. Don't tell your recruiter or anyone else. It could affect your chances if you want to talk about it. Some things are better left unsaid. Now, on the other hand, if you don't feel you can handle being a soldier. . . . then, perhaps you shouldn't join. But, if you are ready for the challenges, the training and the deployments. . .then let's go! ! ! ! ! |

Only if it is on your record, but you can get a psychiatric evaluation stating that you have no psychological problems now. |

I wouldn't bring it up to your recruiter, because it might have an effect. But if they don't specifically ask, you won't be lying to hide it. |

Okay, few things. When I went to an Armed Forces Careers Office one of the first questions I got asked, along with epilepsy, depression, etc one was "suicidal thoughts". If you still feel that way then I'd say no, they wouldn't allow you in at all, or if it's on a medical record.
Think of it this way, why would they spend the taxpayers money who will end up trying to kill himself, others or whatever else. It's just a waste of money....
Go to an AFCO and ask them about it... |

If you have a medical record, they will have access to any information contained in it. If there is no medical record, police record and so forth, I think you will be alright. |
