I know that in the Marines, if you need corrective lenses, you will have to wear the BC glasses during boot.
But if I was deployed overseas would I be able to wear normal glasses?
Or would i have to still wear the BCs?

You can wear your normal glasses, but you should have your BCGs with you, just in case.
If you're on outside the wire, you will have to wear ballistic lens glasses, e.g. ESS, Wily-X, Oakleys - and they have inserts for corrective lenses. |

When you graduate, you will no longer be required to wear them. You just have to make sure whatever glasses you get work with the uniform. Just like black wire framed glasses. as long as they arent neon green, or baby blue or nothing like that, they are fine. But the answer is yes, you CAN ditch the birth control glasses after MCT.
But if you dont HAVE to have glasses or contacts to see,like i have heard of some guys with minor astigmatism not even having to get them, then you wont have to have them. But i still would for the rifle ranges anyways. |

Once you are out of boot camp, you may purchase your own glasses. You can then take these glasses with you to your next duty station or Iraq, etc.,.
But like someone else mentioned, if your (regular) glasses break while deployed, you will be issued BCG's. |

Actually, the military now gives you numerous choices of frames if you are issued glasses. After basic you can choose some decent looking frames.
When I went to Afghanistan, at the redeployment base I had to see the eye Doc as part of the check-in process. My last glasses prescription was a couple years old so they did a new eye test and found I needed a new prescription. I had the choice of about 8 different frames. I chose very stylish frames, and wear them often while in civvies. |

Just about everyone but the first poster is right, you can wear normal glasses as long as you stay within regs. Don't worry too much about having to get BCGs should your normal ones break. They've changed now, they're not as scary looking, they look alot more normal, some are wire frames. |

You will be able to wear normal glasses but if you break them you can't get them fixed over there so you will have to have at least one set of BCs with you. |
