When my husband deploys, how would BAH work if I went back to my home town?
Find answers to your legal question.

When my husband deploys, how would BAH work if I went back to my home town?

We are stationed on the West coast from the East Coast. He is deploying next year and we will have a baby by then. Other than him, I have no one here and I dont want to be completely alone raising our baby. So I want to go back home but we arent sure how BAH will work. We are living on base housing but plan to completely move out before I go home.
Will the BAH rate change to where I am going or will it stay the same as his duty station?

NWIP
BAH will be based and where he is stationed not where you are living. The cost of moving out, putting things in storage and going home will all be yours the military will not pay for it at all. When he comes back you will have to go back on the housing waiting list

It will stay the same as his duty station and you'll start receiving it after you clear housing regardless of where you go.

Friend of mine has almost the same scenario going on, except no kid on the way. Just checked with finance on Monday and that's what he was told.

BAH remains at the duty station location. all expenses incurred for the move will be out of pocket and you will go to the bottom of the housing list when you return.
